ProcrastiNails: Love Is In the Air Nail Art Challenge: Leopard Heart Colour Blocking

Valentine's Day nail art with heart shaped leopard spots and colour blocking

February means Valentine nails! I’m taking part in a short and sweet nail art challenge hosted by Challenge Your Nail Art and today I have my first fill to share with you. (I’m actually a few days behind at this point so chances are I’ll be doubling up on posting every day until I catch up… So you may see another post later tooday!)

This is my fill for the nail art technique I love – colour blocking. I also really really love doing leopard print but since I didn’t know if that counted as a ‘technique’ I decided to double up.

Check out the list of the rest of the prompts below and then check under the cut for more pics of my mani!

My base is Wet n Wild French White Creme (my new go-to white!) and then I freehanded my light pink colour block with Essie French Affair. I pulled out White Creme again to add my spots and then outlined them with Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Magenta Motion. The whole thing was sealed with a quick dry top coat.

I’m trying to be more consistent with my macro pics and with this one I like how it shows the hint of shimmer in the bold raspberry I outlined my spots in!

This was my first time doing the heart-spots for my leopard print, and I have to say I found them a bit more difficult than the normal leopard spots! First off you have to figure out what size to make your hearts, and then when you add the outline bits you have to make sure you don’t hide the fact it’s actually a heart! Tricky! I definitely need some more practice.

Before you go, make sure to check out the looks from the other lovelies participating below! (Hah! I rhyme!)

Have you done a heart-shaped leopard print design before? Do you have any tips for me in terms of keeping my hearts actually looking like hearts? I would honestly love to hear, if so!

Thanks for visiting!
