ProcrastiNails: The 31 Day Challenge 2014 – Day 11: Simple Dotted Mandala

We’ve made it to the Styles section of The 31 Day Challenge! First up: polka dots!

I wanted to go with something a bit different than a standard full-coverage dotticure, so I played around last night and organically came about to doing this simple mandala on my nails. I just started making dots and patterns and this is where it ended up. Drawing and colour mandala’s are supposed to help with personal growth and re-balance, so I think they’re a perfect addition to my self-care manicures.

The colours in this manicure are entirely OPI, with a healthy dose of China Glaze Fairy Dust to finish it off because why not. The base is OPI Steady As She Rose with a selection of other colours making up the dots – if you have questions about specific shades let me know and I’ll pull it up!

It’s funny: this isn’t nearly my favourite manicure visual-wise, but it was one of my favourites to do because it was so relaxing. Dot dot dot here, dot dot dot there… Repeat… Definitely something I’ll be doing again in the future, hopefully with more complex designs.

Here’s a look at all the other awesome dot designs from today:

That’s it from me for today! My question for you is: Have you ever done work with mandalas before, either on your nails or in traditional art? Do you find them as calming as I do? I’d love to hear about it!

Thanks for visiting!
