Hello loves! I'm sorry for all the radio silence, I took an unplanned break through some of April as it was both my birthday month and my mom was visiting for a couple of weeks! I'm back now though, and the first thing we're looking at is this unboxing for my March 2017 Topbox. Hooray!
Topbox is a Canadian subscription box that contains four deluxe-sized (and sometimes full-sized!) beauty samples every month for $12 CAD (plus tax, free shipping).

Today I have a quick swatch to share with you from one of the (many) Advent Calendars I picked up at the end of last year. This one is from LynBDesigns' 12 Days of Holo Box which featured 12 LE shades that each featured (you guessed it) holo in one form or another.
I keep meaning to swatch the full box to share with you, but for now I have the polish from Day 1: Bauble!

So when I started this blog it was really to feature the nails I was doing as part of my self-care routine. Self-care is basically things that we can do to take care of ourselves, recharge our batteries (emotionally and physically) and nurture ourselves. It can include relaxing things, fun things, and even just doing things you know you need to do to be your best self even if you don't feel like it (like taking a shower, eating, doing laundry, etc.).
In the mental health field we talk a LOT about self-care, but sometimes it feels a bit like just a buzz word. Something we say without really thinking about, and something we don't really reflect on as much as we should.
In the interest of supporting you, my readers, to focus a little bit on self-care (while also working to support myself!) I've started this new little series of things you can do to help take care of yourself. Today I want to focus on little routines or actions you can do to incorporate nails into your self-care, and if you have other ideas or things you do for yourself I'd love to hear about them in the comments!
So grab a cup of tea, click the link below, and choose something you'd like to do just for yourself (and your nails!) later today..

When I can't figure out what to do on my nails I can always turn to vinyls! Or decals. Or stencils. I feel like everyone calls them different things! I usually call everything that is stuck on a nail like a sticker a vinyl, whether it stays on the nail or is painted over with polish and then peeled off. Is that just me? Am I being the vinyl-equivalent to the person who thinks an ombre and a gradient are the same thing? Enquiring minds want to know!
Anyway, whatever you consider them I have two designs from a new indie brand to share with you! The brand is Kayla Ray Vinyls and today I have both a leave-on decal vinyl and a peel-off stencil vinyl to share with you. :) Check under the cut for more pics and my review of both these products and the brand as a whole!

It's about time we get a new MoYou London Collection and this time they've surprised us with a Mexico-themed line of plates! And I have to be honest - if someone told me to imagine some images that could represent Mexico I would have zero idea what to suggest. It's not a style of art or design I'm too familiar with!
So take a look at the new plates below, and let me know if these scream Mexico to you or if you have different ideas of what they should have (or should in the future!) include. :)

I've been super jealous this past year or so watching the fun events happening state-side around indie nail polish, so you can imagine how friggen excited I was when I heard that we were having our very own event here in Canada - Indie Expo Canada! And I bought a ticket, so I will def be going and telling you all about it!
Who else is excited?!

Hooray, another new brand for me! This is one I've seen around a lot and have wanted to try for a while - Emily de Molly! Since they're based in Australia I haven't gotten around to ordering from them yet, so when a fellow Canadian blogger was destashing some of her pretties I decided to pick these two up.
Since these are both from a destash I'm not able to comment on some of the things I normally would in these posts (for example: shipping and customer service) but if/when I do order directly from the brand or a stockist in the future I will update the post with that info. For now I'll just focus on my thoughts on the brand/polish in general!

I'm really proud of myself for keeping up with doing three posts a week! AND that's while working on being productive in my life, too! I'm currently reorganizing a lot of spaces in my apartment as I realized I haven't really bought new furniture or changed anything up in like 4 years so it's all starting to look a bit dated... But a few trips to Ikea, HomeSense and other fun money-spending places has been helping with that!
Anyway, you don't want to hear about my apartment changes I'm sure, so let's focus in on these neon-ly fabulous nails!

So full disclosure, I was introduced to these products because one of my coworkers owns the shop and she gave me my first sample for free. But I fell in love with her soaps and have since re-bought this one for myself and bought a whole bunch of soaps and bath bombs for my mom (and she also fell in love with them). They just smell and work so well that once you try one you can't stop, I swear! So this post isn't sponsored or made with samples, but a sample is how I was introduced to the brand!

These days when I have free time and I'm at home I always toss up in my head "Should I play Sims 4, or should I write blog posts?" And man, it's hard to choose sometimes. My compromise? I often write my blog posts while watching Let's Play videos of Sims 4 on youtube... Haha. Does anyone else still have an unhealthy obsession with the Sims franchise?! The games are just so addictive!
Anyway, from everything I've said so far you would think these nails have something to do with The Sims, but... They don't, at all. Haha. I just wanted to let you know how I felt when I sat down to write this post. :) So let's get into the info and pics about this look!

When I saw that one of the prompts we were doing for The 30 Days of Colour Challenge was 'The First Day of Spring,' I immediately knew which polish I wanted to feature - this fun floral topper from L'Oreal Paris!
Does anyone else remember when toppers with these flower glitter were all the rage with mainstream brands? I think that was a good two or three years ago at this point.. I wasn't a huge fan of them, but I did end up picking up two from L'Oreal Paris when they were on clearance on the end of the season. I got this peachy orange one and another in a light green.
I've never personally used these toppers before, but I did feature one guest post from Sumeet of Tales of Coffee, Lacquer and Beauty and another from Rose of Manicured and Marvelous in March 2015 that feature these types of glitter. So when I say they were 'a thing' I wasn't lying! :)

I am calling this a 'French' drip marble for the sole reason that the painting I based it on was one I purchased in Quebec City. Hahaha. It's not a new technique, don't worry! ;)
Today I have the last post for this month's Digit-al Dozen theme of 'Art.' As stated above it's based on a painting I have in my place, and I gotta say it's one of my favourite paintings in the entire apartment. :) I got it when I was in high school and doing an exchange in Quebec and it's traveled along with me on every apartment move since then.
Take a look below for the inspiration pic and a breakdown of aaaaall the polishes!

Two posts in one day, who am I?! Haha. I wanted to get up a green-themed post to celebrate Saint Patrick's Day, but since it's also a DD week I knew I had to get up a post for our theme of 'Art' as well. I could have combined the two posts into one but what fun is that. ;)
HAPPY SAINT PATRICK'S DAY! Let's keep with the theme of the day and keep it green!
As you may have guessed, today we are looking at some of my favourite green creme polishes! This is a fun little series I started a while ago (you can see my favourite pink cremes here!) that lets me share some of my most loved polishes with you. They're super fun for me to put together, and I hope you like going through them as much as I enjoy deciding which polishes to feature. :)

Ahhh I'm behind! :( Things got a bit ridiculous this week and since I didn't do all my DD looks ahead of time I'm now officially behind one day. Gotta catch up!
Today I'm sharing my third look with you for The Digit-al Dozen REDOES Art, and this time I based my design on some pressed silver coasters I inherited from a great uncle. I just love the raised silver image of roses they have (though unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of them to share with you - I'll have to update the post later with pictures of the coasters)!
To create a similar look I decided to do silver-on-silver stamping, and guess what? All of this was done with just one polish! Check out how I did that below. :)

So when my grandma passed a couple years ago I ended up with a bunch of various pieces of art that she had had. My favourite piece is a giant (3 foot ish) ceramic elephant statue that has yet to be transported from my parents' house to mine, but I also got some cross stitch pieces, mounted ceramic tiles, handmade mounted lace... Lots of fun stuff that both looks pretty and reminds me of my grandma.
Today my fill for The Digit-al Dozen REDOES Art is inspired by one of the cross stitch pieces, and while it's not my favourite look it was definitely fun to do!

This month for the Digit-al Dozen our theme is 'Art'! This is a theme the group already did in the past (before my time) hence the 'REDOES' portion.
I gotta admit I had no idea what to do with these theme, and I also thought we were posting next week not this week... Oops!
Thankfully an idea came to me pretty quickly, and for this week I've decided that I'm going to be focusing on nail art inspired by art around my house. :) Original, right?!
Today I'm focusing on an organic and earthy metalwork tree sculpture that I picked up at a Farmer's Market in my home town last year. Check below for some looks at the art I did and also a look at the original artwork that inspired it!
Holo holo holo! Today we're looking at a holo! :) This gorgeous piece of green is My Indie Polish Last Summer Picnic and it's also my green swatch for The 30 Days of Colour!

Look at me, I've caught up to my Topbox reviews! (That is, as long as I get this posted before my March box arrives..)
So for those who are wondering, Topbox is a Canadian subscription box that contains four deluxe-sized (and sometimes full-sized!) beauty samples every month for $12 CAD (plus tax, free shipping). And this month is actually one of the months I've been the most happy with, even though it only contains for products. :) I think each and every product in this box is something that I will use!

Hellooo! This post is getting to you a bit later in the day than usual, but that's because I have literally ten million things on my plate today. Well, not literally. Figuratively. But still - a lot! One of which is a job interview tomorrow (eeee)! Wish me luck! :)
I was in such an awesome mood when I put these nails together. A few months ago I picked up some of the layering plates from MoYou London. They have a variety of lines, dots, flowers and leaves that can be mixed and matched in a number of ways. They make me so happy!! So many possibilities!
The first day I got them I pulled them and some of my favourite stamping polishes out and put these nails together, and I've been in love with them ever since. (Both this nail design and the plates in general!) I definitely have to pull them out to play more often!

Bursts of swatching energy are awesome, you know? I mean, I'm no superstar like some bloggers I know who swatch a billion polishes a day, but a good day for me is like 5 to 7 polishes.
During my most recent burst of energy I did all my swatches for this month's 30 Days of Colour Challenge prompts which means I will get to post them all on time this round! :) Woo hoo.
Today we're looking at my 'Gold' swatch for the first week, and since the challenge is to focus on polishes that you have never used or that you don't give much love to I decided to use this baby from Quo by ORLY!
Check out more info below!

I am so behind on unboxing posts... This box is from January, and I am posting it now in March. SIGH. My Julep posts are also at least a year behind at this point. Guys, why must I procrastinate so much!!
Topbox is a Canadian beauty box that contains four deluxe-sized samples (and sometimes full-sized products!) every month for $12 CAD (plus tax, free shipping). I've gotten a broad range of beauty products, skin care products, polish and tools in the past four months I've subscribed.
So let's play catch up! Today we're taking a look at the unboxing of my January 2017 Topbox. And I have to say, this is one of the best boxes I've gotten in a while! There was just SO MUCH quality stuff in it! Ahh! Let's get right into it!
Wednesday, 1 March 2017
You would never guess how many indie polishes I own if you just looked at how many actually got posted on this blog... I am so behind in my swatching! In the interest of cutting my to-swatch list down (and also in the interest in posting my 'Blue' fill for The 30 Days of Colour) today I have one of my indie beauties from Fiendish Fancies!
Tuesday, 28 February 2017
So I am terrible at remembering to do seasonal looks at the right time. Case in point: this was the look I put together for Valentine's Day, but as I'm sure you realize today is NOT Valentine's Day. Haha. Oops? Better late than never! (I feel like I say that a lot.)
When I decided to put this look together I was sitting at my computer desk looking at the pile of polishes scattered around. I do my nails in my living room area but I always lug all the polishes I used into the bedroom so as I type up the post I can remember what everything is called. This results in a huge pile of polish just chillin on my desk that I clear out maybe once a month.
SO for this look I only used polish already on my desk and nothing else. I also started with no real plan so I'm glad what I ended up with was actually pretty good! Go me!
Friday, 24 February 2017
One of my favourite parts of getting into indie polishes is getting to experience all the amazingly creative colour combos that various brands have been turning out. This polish for example? You would NEVER see something like this from a mainstream brand, and I LOVE it!
Check out more swatches and info about this gorgeous indie lovely below the cut!

I feel like Avon is one of those companies that I remember hearing about when I was a kid in the way that you would hear about Tupperwear - things that moms would buy and sell to each other and that came in fun little magazines that you could look through to do 'imaginary shopping'. Or was I the only one who did that? Haha.
Anyway, picture my surprise when I started seeing other bloggers sharing beauty products from Avon over the past year or so! I didn't even know Avon was still a thing! So when my mom got me three of their polish shades at Christmas I was like "Hells yes, I'm excited to give these a try!" And what do you know - I was SUPER impressed with them!
Want to hear more? Check below the cut! :)

Meow! Are you a cat person or a dog person? I love a good puppy but I am 100% a cat person! I have two lovable assholes that I live with named Essa and Bean, so when I sat down to do my fifth and final Digit-al Dozen manicure I knew I wanted to go with a black cat theme. (Neither of them are black cats, but that's beside the point haha.)
Take a look at my finished mani below!
Friday, 17 February 2017
I mean, the title says it all for this one. Haha. My inspiration dried up a bit and I said to myself: "Why the hell not! Let's glue some pom poms on!"
And you know what? I LOVE it! I remember when this was kind of a thing people were doing for kicks and I thought it was so dumb, but I actually would really love this look if it wasn't so damn impractical! Who would have guessed. :)

Ah, stamping with holo polish. Something I don't do nearly enough, and because I don't do it often I didn't know better when I tried to stamp a rainbow gradient of colours across my nails! Because guess what? The colours don't show up! :/
Yes, I tried to make this a holo-rainbowy-stamping-gorgeousness mani but it didn't quite work out how I expected. At ALL. Bummer! It's still pretty, but not pretty in the way I had planned..
Tuesday, 14 February 2017
Still feeling a bit blah but I gotta say these nails really gave me a little energy boost. They turned out so well! I'm going to have a hot bath to relax a bit and then sit down to try to turn out the rest of the manis for this week. Wish me luck!
Monday, 13 February 2017
I'm going to start off by saying I am feeling SUPER under the weather today. :( I got hit by a bug and even sitting at the computer is making me feel nauseous again, so I'm going to keep things short so I can get back to bed.
Today I have the first look for the February Digit-al Dozen theme. This month the theme is very open with the prompt of 'black', so I'm looking forward to seeing what I can come up with. :) To start we have a simple and vampy lace look.

I have had a weekend full of swatching and art! Productive, woo hoo! The first look I'm sharing with you this week is a quick and simple one but it features a topper I'm pretty sure I've never used... Toppers in clear bases are polishes I pick up quite often but rarely use, is that just me or does everyone else do that too? lol Gotta get my butt in gear and start using them more often!!
I'm also starting to try out some new poses... I have two new shots in this post and I would LOVE to hear your feedback on what angles/poses you like best!
Thursday, 2 February 2017
Hello hello! Sorry I've been so quiet this week, I've been a bit swamped in other parts of my life so this post is getting up later than I had expected. Boo!
So what I have for you today is a fun recreation of a look that I did waaaaay back in 2013. I think it was one of my first looks that used striping tape and I remember being super thrilled with how it turned out. :) I have a comparison of then and now below the cut, and you can also check out the full original post here!
This looks is also my last January fill for The 30 Days of Colour where our theme was 'Recreation'!

In celebration the Digit-al Dozen ladies are making manis based on an image she chose for us to use for inspiration. Check under the cut for a look at the picture she chose, and then take a better look at the mani I put together!

Hello hello lovelies! I have a quick mani to share with you today for my fourth fill in this month's 30 Days of Colour Challenge! Our theme this week was 'Jewels' and I decided to use one of my favourite stamping plates and polishes to do a colourful leadlight mani. :)
Who doesn't love rainbow jewels on their nails?! Over holo no less!
Wednesday, 25 January 2017
Guess who found a look hidden in her computer that hasn't been shared over here yet! Me!
I think this look is from late last year, and it was the result of playing around with some new stamping plates I ordered from Nicole Diary. It was one or two lighting setups ago so the colour is a bit off (sorry!) but the look is still pleasing to the eye imo. :) Let's focus on the design rather than the yellow tone everything has haha.
Monday, 23 January 2017
I layered the hell out of my base for this mani and it turned out AMAZINGLY iridescent and wonderful and I'm SO HAPPY. Look how glittery and sparkly and wintery and lovely these are!
Aside from being fabulous these nails are also my second fill for this month's 'Winter' theme for The Nail Challenge Collaborative! My first fill this month was this drag marble tree look. I'm not sure if I'm going to have time to get a third look in this month, but that's okay. I did a great effort this month imo with two winning looks. :)
Friday, 20 January 2017
Hello loves! I've been feeling under the weather the past few days unfortunately, but thankfully I had a few posts photographed already from last weekend so I still have some looks to share with you while I recuperate. :)
Today we're looking at my favourite look so far this year - these double stamped leaves which are my 'Calm' fill for The 30 Days of Colour. Blue and green are definitely shades that come to mind for me when I think about being calm. I was planning to do something with shades of blue but I ended up with this and I'm super glad I did - I've worn these nails all week!
Check under the cut for more pics! :)

So remember last year when I went over the top with indies on Black Friday? Yeah, I think LynB Designs was one of the biggest orders I made.. Free shipping threshold + free gifts with purchase levels (and I had to hit all of them!) + huge discount code + a 12-piece mystery holo line? YES PLEASE.
All-in-all I ended up with 28 polishes from my one order, haha. I just couldn't stop! They were all so pretty, and I got pulled into the Black Friday hype! I regret nothing!
Today I'm doing a first impression review of LynB Designs, both as a brand and as individual polishes. This is the second indie brand I've reviewed like this (the first was my much-loved Beyond the Nail).
For this overall brand review I decided to close my eyes and randomly choose two polishes (because I just couldn't choose) to swatch and I ended up with two lovely jelly polishes packed with glitter and flakies, respectively! Check under the cut for a review on the polishes, the brand, and my customer service experience in detail! :)

Hello hello! I'm a day late, but I'm here (finally) with my second fill for January's 30 Days of Colour Challenge! Our theme this week was pink and I knew right away I wanted to use one of the new Avon shades my mom got me at Christmas. Combine with some sparkle and jewels and we have a perfectly rich pink mani. :)

I was feeling CLUELESS about what to do for my last decades mani, but it came to me when I sat down to look at the stamping plates I own and saw some gorgeous plaid designs... Get it, Clueless?! :)
That's right, I decided to recreate the plaid pattern from Cher's fabulous yellow plaid suit from 90's classic Clueless. When in doubt, go with pop culture! That's what I need to remind myself when I get stuck I think.
Let's get to it!

Alright, I shook myself off and decided to do something I could really get excited about for today's prompt! Thanks for the encouraging comments last time, the really helped me to sit down and think about what I wanted to do today, what would be FUN for me to do. And I decided to go with nails inspired by my favourite 90's girl band of all time!
You also get to see my rarely-visible thumb, which... I'm not actually super pleased about haha. I like the design I did on it, but my thumb is so ugly!! Ahhh! I hope you don't mind how short and rounded it is compared to the rest.
ANYWAY I know what you want (what you really really want) is to see my nails, so let's get to it!
Wednesday, 11 January 2017
I don't know you guys, I feel like my creativity has left me these days. :( Getting these nails out was almost physically painful for me I had so few ideas... This was my third attempt at something vaguely 1960's themed and I'm still not happy with it. I think I was going for like, a blobicure inspired by a lava lamp?? :/
I need to stop being such a Debbie Downer. Grr. Positives, okay... Hmm, well, this is a moderately successful blobicure, which I have never done before! That's good, right? :) And I did get a mani done today, so that is a success I can acknowledge too. So that's two positives. Just gotta keep in that mindset! Yess!

My second look for the Decades prompt with The Digit-al Dozen! I decided to go with the 1980's this time (or technically as my friend said "it's the 90's because the 1980's didn't end until 1994").
This was a really fun look to do, and all I knew when I started is that I wanted to incorporate cassette tapes. I was 100% going to freehand them but then I realised I had a stamping plate and decided to make use of that instead.
Check below for a better look!

Greetings! :) I hope everyone is enjoying their week so far. I am because we're at the start of another Digit-al Dozen week! This month our theme is Decades - isn't that super fun?!
It took a while to get my inspiration going so I started out with a pretty obvious option: Art Deco nails inspired by the 1920's! It seems like a lot of us when this route for our first looks which I think is both funny and awesome. :) There are never enough golden and geometric nails in the world, imo!
Sunday, 8 January 2017
2017 is here and I finally had time to sit down to do some nails to celebrate! 2016 wasn't a terrible year but I just feel good about 2017... It feels like there are good things in store for me! :)
Blog-wise I haven't really given much thought to any resolutions, shockingly. I have a new template that I want to upload at some point so you can look forward to that, and I'm focusing more time on my IG and FB pages, but other than that I think I'm just going to keep trucking on like usual.
In my personal life? Well, I'm hoping to switch jobs in the next few months (though I have no idea where I want to go or what I want to do...) and I have a couple weddings coming up that I'm really looking forward to attending. Maybe I'll start dating again? HAHA. No.
Anyway, enough chit chat! You're here for nails, right? So let's get to the nails!
Friday, 6 January 2017
Today I have an older look that I dug up on my computer to share with you... I've recently gotten a new computer so I'm in the process of moving everything over and getting used to the new system (ew Windows 10) and let me tell you it has been a PAIN!
But the good thing is that it has made me organize and properly store my blog files, and it's helped me pull up some looks I forgot about (like this one)! In my opinion it's a total nail fail but I know sometimes you guys feel differently than I do. So take a look at the rest of the pics and let me know what you think!
Tuesday, 3 January 2017
Christmas is over but I have one more wintery Christmas look to share with you before we move on to the new year! (ALSO HAPPY 2017!) This is also my first look for the Nail Challenge Collaborative's January theme of Winter!
I ordered TEN BILLION indie polishes during the Black Friday sales a while ago and I've finally been able to start playing around with them. And oh my gosh you guys, so many new pretties! The two brands that I ordered the most from are LynB Designs and Fair Maiden and both of them are actually featured in this mani. :) So let's take a look!
