Swatch of the redish orange Nicole by OPI My Claim to Flame

I’ve been holding on to My Claim to Flame since last fall when I got it. It was in my gift bag from the 2014 Spark Sessions Conference and it’s from Nicole by OPI’s 2015 line. I had trouble deciding if I should swatch it for the ‘Red’ or ‘Orange’ fill for the 30 Days of Colour since it’s that in-between shade that wants to be either or depending on the light, but as you can see I ultimately decided on orange!

It was a shock for me to find that my camera loooooved this colour. Every shot I took was true-to-shade! I didn’t love it quite as much as my camera, though I have to say it started growing on me a bit after I tried it on.

My Claim to Flame is a fun redish-orange crelly polish. I used four coats here which got rid of most of the visible nail line, but if you truly want it to be opaque (and you want the colour to POP) I’d suggest using white undies. I had absolutely zero issues with application, and it didn’t once flood my cuticles or stain. Bonus!

You can see a wee bit of the VNL at the bottom, but as I said above a coat of white undies would get rid of that straight away.

Orange-leaning reds (or red-leaning oranges) aren’t really my shade so I can’t say I’ll be reaching for this one a lot. Maybe for my toes in the summer when I’m off to the beach! I’m always happy to have more crellies in my collection for fades and leadlighting though, so I’m sure I’ll pull this out for art occasionally.

Here’s the other ‘Orange’ fills for today:
