Bursts of swatching energy are awesome, you know? I mean, I’m no superstar like some bloggers I know who swatch a billion polishes a day, but a good day for me is like 5 to 7 polishes.
During my most recent burst of energy I did all my swatches for this month’s 30 Days of Colour Challenge prompts which means I will get to post them all on time this round! 🙂 Woo hoo.
Today we’re looking at my ‘Gold’ swatch for the first week, and since the challenge is to focus on polishes that you have never used or that you don’t give much love to I decided to use this baby from Quo by ORLY!
Check out more info below!
So today’s lovely little number is Quo by ORLY Gold Rush Sparkle. It is PACKED with all sorts of gold, silver and holo glitter (though the gold comes through the most) – bar glitter, hex glitter, microglitter, it’s all in there!
This is a glitterbomb in a clear base, so to build it up to the level of opacity shown in these swatches you’re going to have to paint on one coat for a base and then sponge on two subsequent coats. That’s what I did, and then smoothed on two layers of top coat over it all to smooth it down. 🙂 Before the top coat it wasn’t particularly bumpy, but it was really matte because of the sponging (which soaks up the clear base) so top coat is needed for gloss.
This is one of the only times I haven’t minded bar glitter sneaking into a polish. They blend so well with all the other shapes and sizes mixed in that they don’t stand out too much which is the perfect way to include them in my opinion.
What do you think about bar glitter? Are you one of the rare few who really like it, or do you only prefer it in small doses and blended into glitter mixes like I do?
Thanks for visiting! xx Let me know what you think!
