The 31 Day Challenge 2014 - Day 6: Sleepy Purple Octo
Day 6 of The 31 Day Challenge! Let's do this! Today I was inspired by Hey, Darling Polish! and her kick-ass freehanded pattern abilities. I really want to get better with my freehand art and honestly this challenge is the perfect opportunity. I spent some time on pinterest and eventually decided to copy the general design from this pattern - who can resist a sleepy octopus!
Let's take a better look!
The base purple for this design is one of my favourite polishes from my favourite collection - OPI Planks a Lot from the 2011 Pirates of the Caribbean Collection. I did my art with white acrylic paint and then added my octo details with a teeny tiny brush, a toothpick and OPI Dutch 'Ya Just Love OPI? The whole thing was finished off with a matte top coat because I always think illustration-style designs look better in matte - but maybe that's just me!
I seriously love this look. The wee tentacle on my pinky is my absolute favourite! Such a sleepy little sweetheart. :)
Take a look at the other designs for today below:
Let me know what you think of my little octo! Thanks for visiting! :)
