ProcrastiNails: Review // Julep’s Luxe Care Hand Crème

I’m always on the lookout for a good hand cream so I was excited to try out Julep’s intensive care offering when it was available as an add-on a while ago. Periodically my hands dry out so much that it almost hurts. And nothing makes a good mani look bad like a backing of cracked, dry skin. Ew, right?

Check under the cut to see if I think this “luxe” moisturizer is a hit or a miss!

Julep Luxe Care Hand Crème

Price: $20 ($16 Maven) for 2.5 oz

Availability: Julep

Description: An intensive moisturizer that leaves skin indulgently, noticeably soft (but not greasy). Treats dry, chapped hands to the nourishing benefits of glycerin and Power Cell Complex™, a Julep-exclusive blend of age-defying, skin-boosting, ultra-hydrating ingredients including: Rosehip seed oil (delivers essential nutrients to soothe and repair), Malvaceae Lipid Extract™ (improves barrier function so skin retains moisture), and Green coffee bean oil (invigorates skin & promotes cell turnover).

Application

Julep suggests applying the product to “trouble spots” or patches where your skin is the most dry. I found it worked just as well as an all-over hand moisurizer or as a targeted rough patch moisturizer. You don’t need to use much, though even using just a bit you will find that it takes a bit of time to fully dry. But as soon as it’s dry your skin will feel smooth and silky, which is awesome. For really rough patches (like a dry elbow or a patch on my hand) it took a few applications throughout the day to see a difference, but the difference was there.

Packaging

I’ll admit when I first opened my box containing this moisturizer I was surprised at how small it was. Once you realize you don’t need to use much it doesn’t seem quite as small, though I still wouldn’t pay full price for it. To make the cost worth it you probably want to wait until it goes on sale. (I’ve seen it as low as $5 before.) I also loved that the container seals tight and is perfect to throw in your purse. That’s where mine lives now – perfect for pulling out at work or during a commute.

Scent

I’m really sensitive to scents and sometimes with moisturizers that can be the deal-breaker for me. Thankfully the scent with this one is almost non-existent. If it smelled like anything (when you put your nose right up against your skin) I would say slightly waxy but in a good way, if that makes sense to anyone.

Overall Thoughts

Julep describes their Luxe Care Hand Crème as the ultimate intensive moisturizer, and overall I was really pleased with it! It worked wonderfully for me and I love not having to worry about it opening up in my purse. The subtle scent and small amount needed just seal the deal. 🙂 I would definitely recommend this moisturizer if you’re looking for something new to try, though I wouldn’t suggest buying it at full price for the size you get.
