Today I have swatches of one of the polishes I picked up on my most recent trip to Walmart: Hard Candy Sweet Tooth! I didn't even know Walmart sold Hard Candy so I was excited when Jill got me some for Christmas. And now that I know they carry them? There's no stopping me! Hahah.
I am still away from home, but I took the step to photographing some looks before I left so that I could write up the posts from my parents' place. :) This was a good idea because I also just broke two of my swatching hand nails off, so I'm going to have to wait for them to even out again. :( ANYWAY, enough about me. On to the nails!

Simple Mani with the OPI Sheer Tint Polishes: I’m Never Amberrassed, Don’t Violet Me Down, Be Magentale With Me, and I Can Teal You Like Me!
My local beauty supply store had the new OPI Sheer Tint shades out so I scooped them up the other day on a break from work so I could try them out and share them with you. Originally I intended to put together a full swatch and review post, but since I got these the night before leaving the province for a visit with my family that's going to have to wait. I did a few swatches before I left, so keep an eye out at the beginning of March for my full post! For now you get a quick look I put together with all of the shades to show off the opacity and layering ability of these polishes. :)

Hello lovelies! Today marks the start of a new series of posts that I'm calling Duped?! As you can probably guess, it's going to be my chance to look at polishes in my collection that seem like they might be dupes (aka duplicates). I might also throw in some polishes that I just want to compare even if they don't seem like exact dupes. It's something I've been playing around with in my mind for a while, but when I got this month's Julep box and saw the colours in it I thought to myself: "Alright. These look eerily similar to other shades I've gotten in previous months. I need to compare!" Today: Julep Diamond Theory and Julep Hilary go head-to-head! I'll tell you a bit about each shade, and then we'll get to the comparison.
Here we go!

Get it? Delivery? DeLOVEry? Because the doves are delivering love letters? It's funny. Right?! Hahah... Ahh man. Okay! Today we have my last fill for the Week of Love Valentine's Nail Art Challenge! The last theme for the week was freestyle so I was free to do whatever type of look I wanted. I actually had a hard time deciding what to do, but when I was shopping today I found a Revlon shade called Valentine and I thought to myself: "Meant to be! I have to use this!" I added some glitter and some stamping and voila! :)

You ever have those designs that when you draw them out you're like "yep, perfect!" but when you finally translate them to nail you're like "ehhhhh no" and so you just keep changing them little by little? That's what this design was like for me. Originally it was going to be creme polishes, but then I got my hands on Julep Glam Roc and knew I had to put it to use. And then I was only going to do the half the heart going across the line, but when I did that you couldn't actually tell that they were hearts (well, you could but it was a stretch) so I decided to do the other side and add an outline. The finished product isn't exactly what I pictured, but that's okay! :) It's still cute.

No violets today, it's aaaaaall roses for my third fill for the Week of Love! :) I think this was the simplest of all the manis this week (so far), and it's by far my favourite. I also love how the design works over my base of Julep Love. Just enough glitter for interest without overpowering the rest of the look. Let's take a closer look!

Except I hope no one actually has fuzzy lips! Flocking powder in that area would be really annoying! Hahah. Today I bring you my second fill for the Week of Love: Kisses! I was sitting around with absolutely no idea what to do for today's theme, and then I decided: neon pink! and flocking powder! and this mani was born. It's a bit outrageous for my tastes, but it was fun to do!
As you can see my nails broke between doing the first fill and this one, so I had to decide if I wanted to stop doing my nails for a bit or if I wanted to say "screw it!" and just keep going. As you can see I went with the second option! Nubs can be cute and I don't mind rocking a different length for a while. :) Also: please don't mind the weird glowing pink disease my skin has taken on in these pictures... I had to adjust the colours a bit for the pink to come out right, and there were casualties!

Hello hello lovelies! Like I said the other day I'm not normally much of a Valentine's type of girl, but when I saw this cute Valentine's Week Challenge going around on facebook I decided "why not!" So for the next 5 days you're going to be treated to some sugary sweet lovey dovey nail art. Up today: my try at the theme of Candy Heart Sayings! I couldn't wait any longer, so you get this just past the stroke of midnight tonight! Hahah. Enjoy!!

My Julep Maven (Feb 2014) It Girl Box! Roc Solid, Diamond Theory and Glam Roc (+ Love) Swatches and Review [pic heavy]
Jay-Z and nail polish. Those are some words I never thought I'd see together! And yet here we are! This month Julep's theme was The Dramatic Collection, and they had a ton of deep, vibrant and rich shades available. I went with the It Girl Box which was interesting because as I alluded to earlier this entire box (and only this box) was curated and named by Jay-Z's ROCNATION. How random, no? Hahah. Well, Jay-Z's people know their stuff because these colours were lovely. As well Julep must have heard my complaints last month because my box got here a week earlier than estimated! :)

Sometimes when I'm planning to do detailed/layered nail art I'll do my base coats the night before and then plan to do the actual designs the next day. This gives everything time to dry completely and spreads the two to three hour committment over the course of two days. Unfortunately, sometimes things happen and I never get around to doing anything on top of the base. This was one of those instances, but I thought I'd share it with you anyway and give you some insight into how I choose my colours. :)

It's February! Also known as The-Month-When-Nail-Artists-Put-Hearts-On-Everything! Valentine's Day and it's affiliated paraphernalia aren't really my thing, but I do like drawing hearts so this year I'll join in. :) To start the month off I have the results of playing around with OPI Push and Shove as a base. I loved how this turned out, and I always forget how easy fan brush mani's are!

I've had this shade sitting around in my collection for what seems like forever. Before my pastel phase I went through a sunset pinky-orange phase, which was when I picked this up. It's a duochrome foil that goes from pink to orange with a hint of gold... What's not to love?! :)

Here's a roundup of my favourite Instagram pics from January! Only one of these manicures has actually made it to the blog so far (my Grunge Music Nails) and two of the others are going to make an appearance later this month. One of them should actually be up as a full-post in the next few hours... Any guesses? :)
Some of my favourite non-manicure pictures are the one on the right which is of the lovely new light box set-up my parents surprised me with, and the middle bottom picture which is my Christmas present from a good friend. She knows me well!!
If you want to see more you can check out my instagram for larger pics and more info! As always, feel free to leave links to your own instagram account in the comments of this post so I can check it out. :)
