So I have a quick post for you today! You might remember that I got some orange blocks in my January Julep Maven Box as my free gift that turned out to be buffing blocks. Well, as promised I gave them a try and put together a mini review and how-to post for them. Unfortunately this product seems to only have been made for our boxes, so unless Julep decides to create and sell a full-sized product you won't be able to get your hands on these. Sorry! :(

I didn't believe this polish was going to deliver when I first saw it, but once I tried it MAN was I impressed! If you haven't picked up OPI Push and Shove yet, you really need to go pick it up. Like, go right now. It's as close to a true ultra-chrome as we're going to get (at least for the next while)!

I haven't freehanded angled french tips in ages, so it felt like it was time to give myself a refresher. What I like about this specific look is that it uses three different finishes... Matte, glossy and glitter. If only I'd been able to work texture in there, I would've been all set. :)

Yes, you read that right. The entire Boudoir Collection is mine! I just couldn't resist these soft gorgeous pastels, and so last month for the first time ever I upgraded to the polish lovers box. This included Mae and Margot (from the Bombshell Box), Mona and Abigail (from the Classic With a Twist Box), Hannah and Noelle (from the Boho Glam Box), and Farrah, Hope and Annemarie (from the It Girl Box). So hold on tight, because I have swatches and reviews for all 9 of these gorgeous shades!
One of the things that drew me to this collection was the fact that aside from the normal crème and shimmer formulas, it came with a handful of shades that were described as having a satin or silk finish. I love me some interesting finishes and textures, and now that I've tried it I just can't get enough of this silk finish! For those who are curious about the difference: the satin finish polishes seem to be a flat matte, whereas the silk finishes are matte shimmer polishes. The satin finish left a bit to be desired, since it didn't have the same slight sheen that the last satin polish I got (which was Lola) had.

I'm not normally a fan of Nicole by OPI as a brand... Partially because I don't think their colours are very creative, I'm annoyed by how they only ever seem to do lines that are partnered with random shows/celebrities, and I hate paying full price for drugstore brands when I can get what I see as superior brands (OPI, CG, Zoya, Essie) for less at my beauty supply outlet. But apparently Shoppers Drugmart had a sale in December so my mom picked up a few NOPI shades for my stocking, and wouldn't you know it I fell in love with them both. I hate it when I have to eat my words!! Today I bring you one of the two Modern Family shades I've added to my collection: Candid Cameron.

It's been a while since we've talked about the beauties in this collection, hasn't it? Well, wait no longer! I've got 3 more posts (including this one) set up over the next few weeks to go through the entirety of this collection,
(And for anyone that's wondering, I just got my Jan Maven Box, and I'm working hard on swatching and writing it up. So keep an eye out for that next week!)

So the other day I thought to myself "I haven't really done any involved nail art in the past while. I should fix that." I also thought to myself "I need to use more of my Cheeky plates. There's so many nice designs I haven't used yet." And after giving it some thought I combined the two to create these lovely nails! The "grunge" in the name is because they use Chalkboard Nails' grunge technique and the music part is pretty obvious I would hope. :) If you can't tell, the main nails are stamped with a piano key design. I did rainbow grunge under it to make it more interesting!

A few months ago Pharmaplus started carrying a small line of cosmetics from a brand that's new for me called Pandora's. The line only had 6 polishes available (along with a selection of lip glosses) and they were mainly in jewel tones. The polish I decided to pick up is called Vanilla Bean and is described on their site as a "bronze-brown that is perfect for fall" and dries matte. It's not a very inspired description...And rather than saying this is a matte, I'd say it's a more of a satin finish. That being said, this polish had really great coverage (pictured is two coats and it was almost opaque with one) and is reasonably priced at $4.99 (CAN) a bottle.
From their site:
All PANDORA'S® Nail Polishes are two coat coverage, high shine, and 5-free (No DPB, No Formaldehyde, No Formaldehyde Resin, No Camphor, No Toulene).

Nail mail, nail mail, guess who got nail mail! Me! How exciting!! Haha. I've been planning a polish exchange with Inés @ Càrritx i roses for what seems like ages (and in reality was over a year). The idea was that I would send her polishes from Canada that she couldn't get, and she would send me polishes from Spain that I couldn't get here. I won't say what our polish number was supposed to be, but I will say that my lovely exchange partner went ABOVE AND BEYOND WHAT WE AGREED ON. Hahah. But oh man, did I appreciate it!
She also sent me a ton of snacks and sweets, but I have to admit that I have eaten them all already so you can only see those on the instagram pics I took when the package arrived... Oops!!
You can see her post with what I sent her here (Her pictures are stunning! Much better than my boring ones are), and then you can come back and see quick swatch-stick swatches of these gorgeous shades she sent me. :)

For a while I've been wanting to do a mani using two really similar China Glaze polishes I have, and tonight just felt like the right night to do it. I only took a few pictures (so this post is really short) but I think it shows the shade differences between China Glaze Fade Into Hue and China Glaze Electric Beat. I also added some bling to make it a bit more interesting. :)

Here's another polish from Essie's Encrusted Treasures Collection from 2013. I didn't intend to pick up any shades other than Belugaria, but then my Shoppers Drug Mart had to go and put the whole collection on sale. So. Here we are. :)

Speaking of my next giveaway... If you're looking for a hint, I'd say the best word to describe it would be ..... Julep!

A few days late, but that's okay. :) Here's some of my favourite December instagram posts! The bottom row is the amazing nail mail that I got from the lovely Inés @ Càrritx i roses which I hope to swatch and get up in a post over the next couple of weeks. Not gonna lie, most of the chocolate in that last pic has already been eaten, so this is the only documentation of it's existence. Hahah. Oops. :x
If you want to see more you can check out my instagram for larger pics and more info! As always, feel free to leave links to your own instagram account in the comments of this post so I can check it out. :)
