ProcrastiNails: 12 Days of Christmas Nail Art: Christmas Trees

It’s the second day of fills for 2014’s The 12 Days of Christmas Nail Art Challenge! The theme for the second fill was one you would expect to see in any seasonal challenge: Christmas trees! Who loves Christmas trees? I love Christmas trees! (Even though I’ve decided I’m not putting one up this year, boo. I guess the ones on my nails will just have to do!)

Check under the cut for more details!

I knew from the start that I wanted to use some negative space for this look and originally I was going to do a full tree on each nail. Once I did the first one I decided I loved it a lot but I also wanted to mix up the look for the rest of my nails. My ring finger accent is some gold for the top of the tree, and the other two nails keep with the look of the full tree just on a different scale.

As you can probably tell this design took a small handful of polishes, and I’m not going to go through all of them… The base tree colour is China Glaze Exotic Encounters, and the gorgeously glittery accent nail is actually three layered polishes: OPI Love.Angel.Music.Baby. followed by OPI All Sparkly and Gold and then a coat of Julep Oscar. (I may have loved this gold combo enough to base another upcoming mani on it, too!) Then I used a few other shades for my tree baubles. 🙂

I don’t think I’ve had a chance to do striping tape trees before, so I’m happy I got to give them a try this year! 🙂
