ProcrastiNails: The 31 Day Challenge 2014 – Day 26: Pattern Inspired

Simple patterns are a fun way to jazz up a manicure, and I think they look awesome whether you do them on all of your nails or only use them on one or two as accents. Usually my patterns are done by stamping but today I was inspired by the design on an ottoman in my living room and decided to create it from scratch. Some dots and stripes later and voila, a lovely manicure that looks way more complex than it is! How did I do it? Check under the cut to find out!

To get this look I started out with a base of the ever-lovely China Glaze For Audrey. Then I made rows of large white dots using Essie Blanc across each nail, and connected the dots length-wise and width-wise with a striping brush. When that was done it was just a matter of doing a tiny dot of my base colour in each of the white dots. Smooth it all with two layers of Seche Vite and I was ready to head out the door. 🙂

I think this is such a lovely look… I’m wearing it now and can’t stop looking at my nails! This is also a look I’m going to play around with a bit – in the original design the small dots were also connected with lines so that’s something to try next time!
