So I had intended today’s design to be a lot more simple then it ended up… Originally I was just going to re-create Katy Perry’s outlined nails from the Dark Horse video, but when I got home late last night and was sitting down to do them my brain went “NOPE. Neon leopard print and lettering (that you’ve never done). It’ll be fun! Do it. Go.” And so here we are! My look for Day 22: Inspired by a Song.
If it’s not obvious, this look was inspired by Katy Perry’s Roar – it’s such a fun song and the video is so bright and vibrant and full of lovely animal print.
I used entirely Maybelline Bleached Neon shades for my leopard print and gradient with some Sinful Colors Snow Me White for the spots. All the lettering was done freehand with acrylic paint and topped off with a layer of Seche Vite. Looking at these pictures I see I should’ve put a second thick coat of top coat on to smooth out the acrylics, but what can you do.
The lettering was really fun to do, and now that I’ve done it once I think I definitely want to work on using it more often. One thick line, the rest thin lines, and then serif ALL the things.
This is one of those designs that just looks so much more bright and vibrant in person. I’m still wearing it now, though unfortunately it will have to come off tomorrow to make way for the next design. But that’s how it goes, in the world of daily challenges. 🙂
