Our last review post of the year is a look at my personal favourite nail art looks from 2016. :) This was so fun to pull together as I got to revisit all of my designs, and looking at them helped me to remember "Heck yeah, I do awesome art!" which is sometimes a little reminder that you need to keep going, you know? :)
Check out my favs under the cut and then let me know yours! And if you want, feel free to share a link to your own all-time favourite look from your blog in the comments - I'd love to see! :)

Hello hello lovelies! Today we have the second post in my "2016 in Review" series! A couple days ago I shared with you the Top 10 Most Visited Posts on ProcrastiNails, and today we're looking at my Top 10 Polishes from 2016!
One clarification I should make for this post is that these polishes aren't technically ones that came out in 2016 - they're ones that I swatched in 2016. (That being said there's only one that didn't actually come out this year and it was included because I loved it so much!)

I can't believe it but 2016 is almost at an end! 2016 was an okay year for me blogging wise, but it was a pretty crappy year reality-wise in terms of people we lost and world politics... Hopefully 2017 will be better? :)
While I spend the rest of the week thinking about what kind of resolutions I want to put in place for my blogging life next year I've put together a small series of posts looking at my "Best Of"'s from 2016. Today we're looking at my best posts, aka the posts I made in 2016 that you guys visited the most! Keep in mind these are only of the posts that I made in 2016.
These go in descending order, so we start at number 10 and work our way up to number 1. It was fun to look back at these, and I gotta say some of the higher numbers surprised me!

Happy Holidays everyone!! I'm getting back into the swing of things now that the holidays are pretty much over, and today I have a post to share with you that I've been excited about for a while!
This post took way longer to get going than I expected but I can say that I am finally here to share with you the first round of swatches from the 2016 Ciaté London Advent Calendar! I'm going to do these in bursts of 8 swatches at a time so it should only take me 3 posts to share all of them with you. :)
I'm opening them as I'm swatching them so I haven't actually opened the whole calendar yet, but so far from what I can see I'm already more pleased with the selection in the calendar this year than I was the last time I swatched it from 2014. So much variety, and the shades are really lovely.
And just for reference: all polishes are swatched with one coat of Ciaté London Gelology Top Coat for extra gloss. :)
Enough chit chat! Let's dig in!

Hello hello! I have a couple holiday polishes to share with you today with one of my favourite Canadian indies - Beyond the Nail! These are two of the four shades released in the 2016 Winter Holiday Collection - Cranberry Jelly and Wreath.
I've reviewed a couple of their polishes before but these were my first glitter jellies and I was really impressed! Sometimes jelly polishes can get a bit gloopy but these applied with no issue.
Check under the cut for a better look!

Why do I always fall behind when it comes to unboxing things? Ahhh! The other day I received my December Topbox and was like "Hmmm... Did I ever post my November box?" And the answer was NO which is why you are seeing this post today!
What did I get? Let's look!

Hello hello! Another Digit-al Dozen week has come to a close, and today's look is doing double duty! I decided to do a freehanded candy cane across all my nails both for my last DD fill and also as my first fill with Nail Crazies Unite!
I had a lot of fun drawing this piece of candy on my nails, and I have to say I'd forgotten how relaxing focusing on freehand work can be! Definitely gotta do more of that in the future. :) Maybe it can be a resolution for 2017?

Today's post is a bit late but that's because I just got back from vacation! I was in the Dominican Republic (which is such a gorgeous country!) and so when I sat down to do today's Digit-al Dozen look I was feeling a bit colourful and tropical. So I decided to go with a less traditional colour combo this time! Snowy pink goodness!

Ugly sweater nails are a Christmas staple in the blogging world, but would you believe I've never done them before?! This year to make sure I was prepared I ordered a few different stamping plates with sweater-appropriate designs on them, though this was the only one that arrived in time to use for this week.
It was fun, and I got to use one of my new indie polishes from Beyond the Nail, too!

So sometimes you just say "F*** it! I want to put ALL THE GLITTER ON MY NAILS!" Today was that day. Haha.
Monday, 12 December 2016
It's time for December Digit-al Dozen week when we post 5 days of manis based around the same theme... Since the girls in the group are from all over the world we decided to go with a general "December" theme - for us in Canada and the US that likely means Christmas and snow and red/green, but for the ladies down under it means sun and the beach and fun!
My first look goes with the winter/Christmas part of December - as soon as I picked up this vine stamping plate I knew I wanted to do lines of vines across the top of my nail and this was the perfect opportunity to give it a try!

Sorry for the radio silence everyone, I've been getting ready to go on a trip with my family and things have been very busy! :) To make it up to you today I have a swatch of a fun textured grey from Sinful Colors' Kylie Jenner Collection - After Dark!

Bow wow! Haha.
I have some friggen adorable nails to share with you today, and also the beginning of me trying to teach myself how to do double stamping that actually looks good. :)
The inspiration for this mani came entirely from this cute plate I picked up at Nicole Diary a few months ago - as soon as I saw the cute little Scottie dog faces I knew I had to make use of them!

Hello hello! I'm back with this month's Digit-al Dozen BDay mani today, and I decided to do a new technique for me: a drip marble! Basically you put drops of polish on a container lid and tip and turn it around to make the polish spread in different ways. So easy and so fun!
Today we're celebrating three lovely ladies: Marisa of Polish Those Nails, Mina of Cubbiful and Serene of Copycat Claws!

I just have a short and sweet swatch post for you today, but it's a swatch of one of my favourite green cremes ever! This lovely is Julep Payton and it was originally in the June 2013 Julep Maven box.
That June was actually the first month I ever got a Julep box, but it was a starter box (swatch and review here but it is super old and my pictures show it, so click with caution lol!) so I missed out on picking up Payton the first go-around. But she was mine eventually!

Hello, sorry for the long absence! I think it's been almost a whole week since I posted - things have been crazy busy! I've been taking advantage of a lot of Black Friday deals though so I'll have lots to show you in the coming months! :)
Today we're taking a look at the gorgeous Midnight Muse Collection from Color Club - available now at Trade Secrets! I think this is an aweome mix of colours and finishes, and it has two glitter toppers included that I am absolutely in love with. Check below for the full collection and let me know what you think!

Okay, so this is a VERY different post than usual for me but I hope you'll bear with me. :) Today I'm taking a look at a couple different pieces of sound devices that were sent to me by SoundPEATS AUDIO - their Q20 Bluetooth Headphones and their SoundSOUL Bluetooth Dancing Water Speakers. And for fun I did some colourful music-inspired nail art to go with them!
Check below for both my reviews of the items and also a better look at this super fun nail art look.

And we're at the end of our Digit-al Dozen week! It went so fast! D:
Today I have a very busy look for you that features a variety of colours in both neon and pastel (again I'm focusing on the contrast of shade to fit with the 'colour contrasts' theme!) and I got to pull out my neon acrylic paints for this one. *super happy about that* I was unsure about using acrylic paint with nail vinyls but it worked out great!
Thursday, 17 November 2016
I have two more days of Colour Contrasts to share with you, and today we're doing some tone-on-tone stamping! I decided to contrast a pastel and a neon of the same shade for this look, and while it's simple I also think it's impactful.
I also love how this stamping polish looks different almost every time I use it... I think it really pulls from whatever base colour it's over to appear either pink or purple. So neat!
Check under the cut for the name of the stamping polish I used, and also more pics and info!

Day 3 of The Digit-al Dozen Does Colour Contrasts! Today I'm going with a festive look that unintentionally brings to mind Christmas... But Christmas is awesome so who cares!
Tuesday, 15 November 2016
So today I'm taking a creative attempt at this month's Digit-al Dozen prompt - Colour Contrasts! I decided to contrast colour vs the absence of colour. :) I think it turned out really neat and I'm pleased with how the colour palette's overlap on the middle two nails just a smidge!
I had so much fun playing with making this manicure because I was finally able to play with my new layering stamps from MoYou London - MoYou London Tropical Plate 23 and MoYou London Holy Shapes Plate 19. I didn't actually end up using them for much layering (I have some other manis coming up with that!) but that's okay - still super fun to play with!
Enough chit chat! On to the mani!

Another month, another Digit-al Dozen theme! This month we're doing colour contrasts, and we've learned that we all have slightly different interpretations of that theme (which is awesome).
I'm going to do a mix of complementary and contrasting colours this week, and I'm also going to pull out some new products I bought a few months ago... NEON ACRYLIC PAINTS! Ahhh I'm so excited! The orange in today's mani is acrylic paint and I have a whole rainbow of other colours to pull out in the next few days too. :)
So let's get a better look, shall we?

So first off it took me way too long to realize that the name of this polish is supposed to reference combat BOOTS. Like, a horrifically long time to realize that. I thought it was weirdly called "Blue Tees," like t-shirts. Hahaha... Ohhh Katherine...
Anyway, today I'm sharing swatches of my favourite shade from the 2016 China Glaze Rebel Collection: Combat Blue-ts!

Happy Tuesday, it's time for a tutorial!
Sometimes you just wanna look like a mermaid but don't have the time for mermaid hair or the money for a mermaid tail, so why not make your nails into mermaid perfection so you can enjoy the same feeling? :) Don't know how? Lucky for you, I have a tutorial to show you how!

You guys, I finally got a watermarble stamping plate! I'm so excited! 80% of my watermarbles end in a fail, so now I have an almost fool-proof way to get the look without the pain and spilled polish. Woohoo!
I decided to start out with a fairly simple look to try the plate out, but mark my words I'll be pulling this plate out a lot in the future and seeing what else I can do with it!

So in my house Halloween is over when I say it's over, and since I have one more mani to share with you for the season I say it's still Halloween! (Let's just ignore the Christmas wreath I already put up on my door, 'kay?)
Here is the last Halloween look I have put together for this year... A gradient background with silhouette stamping is just necessary for every nail blogger during the season, don't you agree? Everyone does them so well and I've never actually done one myself so I decided this was the year I would give it a try. :)
Monday, 31 October 2016
Happy Halloween, everyone! I hope you all get to enjoy some candy and spooky costumes tonight. :) I'm having a quiet night in with cake and movies and my pj's, and I also did some spoopy (is that still a thing) nails to celebrate!
OOOoooooOOOooOoOoooohhh.... (Like a ghost, get it?! Haha)

I'm back with another Halloween look, this time as part of the October Hobby Polish Bloggers Linkup! I wore this mani to work and I actually had one coworker who thought it was too gross to look at. That's how I knew I did a good job! Haha. I affectionately refer to this look as My Bloody Pink Eye to up the gross factor. ;) You know you love it.

Every month the Digit-al Dozen shows appreciation for the bloggers in our group who are celebrating birthdays by having them choose a picture that we all create a manicure based off of. This month we celebrated Amber (Nails Like Lace) and she chose an AMAZING picture of what we are joyfully calling "Unicorn Wood!"
Check under the cut to see the picture she shared with us and more of how I decided to interpret it! :)

So I maybe caved and got a new subscription box. Haha. Oops?
There are just so few that are available to Canadians and that are worth the price that when I find one I feel like I just need to grab on to it! I'm doing it because I'm supporting the industry... Yeah! Let's go with that, I need to buy these things so they keep being available to Canadians! So REALLY I'm doing everyone else a favour by picking this up. It's so hard being so selfless...
Did anyone fall for that? Hahah... If not oh well I tried, now let's get into the unboxing! :)
Tuesday, 25 October 2016
Hello hello! Let's get into the Halloween mood with this ooey gooey drippy purple goo mani! As promised I used polish and a plate from the MoYou London Halloween Mani Box that I unboxed yesterday. Make sure to check out the original post if you want to see what else was in the box, because I only used half of it in this mani!
Enough talking! More pictures!

Hi everyone! As promised ages ago, I've finally completed my usage test with the CND RescueRXx Daily Keratin Treatment that I got in my CND Rescue Kit! I tried it for a full week and now I can share my thoughts and the results with you! Hooray! :)

My theme this week seems to be stamping, eh? Totally unintentional! Haha.
So I have a bad habit that you may know of where I buy things and then they sit in my untrieds pile for a long time... Stamping polishes especially! It seems like I just have my three or four favourite polishes to stamp with, and the rest get left out in the cold. :(
In the interest of fixing that I've decided to start doing quick swatches of each of my stamping polishes by brand, both to create a mini directory of what I have and to finally see how well each works. Sounds fun, right?! Haha. Well I'm looking forward to it, at least. :)
Today we're starting off with the polishes I own from (the controversial) Mundo de Unas!

Another month, another collection of Julep products to look at. :) For November Julep is looking at a lot of fall-ready shades... Jewel tone metallics, a hint of shimmer and sparkle, some smokey eye shadows... If any of those things speak to you then you'll want to check out all of the boxes up for grabs in this month's Julep collection!

Hello hello! Today we have the follow-up to yesterday's MoYou London Steampunk Collection Starter Kit Review!
I decided to put together a multicoloured stamping look to show off one of the ways you can use the products in the kit, though I will say I used my clear stamper rather than the squishy rectangle one that came in the kit. Have I mentioned recently what a godsend those clear stampers are? How did we ever do nail art with them in the past?! Man!
Anyway, getting back on topic... Let's get to the art!

Hello loves! Did you know that MoYou London releases nail art kits that include everything you need to learn to stamp? And that if you're in Canada you can now pick them up at Trade Secrets? They are themed based on a number of collections that MoYou London produces too, which is super fun!
I own a couple of these and today I'm showing you my newest lovely: The MoYou London Steampunk Collection Starter Kit! STEAMPUNK! Isn't that amazingly fun? I think so! Check under a cut for a look at what's included in the kit and how it measures up. :)

So one thing I'm always a sucker for is nail polish/care sets. It just feels satisfying to get a few things at once that all work together. You know what I mean?
Today I'm review one of my new favourite nail prep and nail care sets: the Treat Me Right trio by Deborah Lippmann. :) It includes a base coat, top coat and cuticle oil. They're in mini size but I already know I'll be picking at least one of them up in full size once these are done - I like them that much! Which one am I the most in love with? Check out the full review below to find out!

Happy Saturday everyone! I'm coming down from the high of finishing my first week with The Digital Dozen, and to get us back into the regular swing of things for the rest of the month I have this lovely swatch to share with you today!
Last month I found a pile of Butter London polishes at Winners, and you know me... I can't pass up a good find at Winners!! Today I'm swatching one of 6 (!!) shades that I picked up (lol). Check under the cut for more shots of this perfect fall shade, and then let me know what you think!

We made it! Today is Day 5 of my first round of fills with The Digital Dozen and I couldn't be happier. :) I'm so glad to be able to connect with so many other amazing nail artists, and I can't wait to show you future fills in the coming months as well.
But enough of that sentimentality, right? Let's get into the nails! Today I decided to do a dark little lace look with some microbeads for fun (and also because I'm developing a love for microbeads if you can believe it)!

Hello loves, I'm back with 4 for of The Digital Dozen does Vampy! I decided I wanted to play with some 3D roses today so the rest formed up around that idea. :) Who doesn't love leopard print and flowers, right?!

Vampy fill 3! Let's do this! :) This week has really shown me that when I think of vampy I think of a small handful of very specific polishes in my collection... I seem to just be using them over and over. So funny!
The look I have to share with you today is a bit of this, a bit of that. I started off with a dotted line pattern and just kept adding to it without any real plan in mind. I think I really like this because even though the design itself isn't super vampy, the colours bring it into that realm. :)
Tuesday, 11 October 2016
For Day 2 of The Digital Dozen's Vampy theme I have a more subtle and simple look than yesterday... Lace and deep dark shades are the epitome of vampy in my opinion, so I decided to do a simple mani featuring exactly those things. :)
Monday, 10 October 2016
I am super excited to share today's post with you for two reasons: First because it's an attempt at free-handing a detailed look with acrylic paint, and second because it's my first post with The Digital Dozen!
If you haven't heard of them, The Digital Dozen is a lovely group of ladies who collaborate every month on a new nail theme. I've looked up to a lot of the nail artists in the group for years so I was thrilled to be invited to join! Like, I sound really calm now right? But I'm not! I'm totally hyped! Haha.
So I decided to push myself for my first look for our theme this month: vampy!

Hello hello! Today I'm sharing a look that I mentioned wanting to try back when I swatched the full Color Club Nailmoji Neons Collection. :) I've used just the ghost emojis along with some of the coloured glitter to create a spooky (lol) Halloween gradient look. What to know how to do it? Check under the cut for full tutorial and more pics!

Hello loves, it's time for another installment of my Throwback Thursday series, taking a look at where I was with my nail art around this time last year. :) I love being able to look back for two reasons: one it let's me see how far I've come, and two it gives me ideas of looks I might want to try recreating in the future! I'm super in love with the posts I have to share with you today, so be sure to check under the cut for the full rundown!

I have a quick swatch to share with you today! I don't think I use all the glitter toppers I own nearly enough. so I decided to feature one of the lovelies that often catches my eye when I open the drawer. This is Essie Rock at the Top, originally from the Winter 2014 Luxeffects Collection!
Monday, 3 October 2016
Hello lovelies! So it's taken me quite a while but I can finally say I've started dipping my toes into the indie polish world. :) For those who don't know indie polishes are independent polish makers and they are a huge section of the polish blogger world these days!
Why did it take me so long to get into indies? A number of reasons: fears about quality, prices that can be higher than mainstream brands, my hatred of paying shipping, less availability in Canada... Lots of things to consider. But I actually bought my gateway indie polish in January and since then I've been casually browsing. This month I decided to take the plunge and really explore indies (Canadian indies, that is).
My very first order was with Beyond the Nail! Check under the cut for swatches of two of the lovelies I picked up, and then read about my first impressions and thoughts on the brand! I've decided to start with two different finishes so we can get a good impression of application. :)

Since my nails are still growing from The Shaping Incident I've decided to use some of the other posts I had sitting on the back-burner so you aren't without content. Hooray backlog! Today we're going to look at one of my ALL TIME FAVOURITE PRODUCTS for nail care.
So. You know how there are some products you have been using forever and you can't ever see yourself changing to something different no matter how far in the future you look? That's what this product is for me. I've been using Julep's Ta Da! Quick Dry Drops since I first discovered what Julep was and I haven't looked back since. They're that good! Want to hear more?
