ProcrastiNails: Swatch-It Sunday: Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Frazzle Dazzle and Rosey Shooter

When I’m feeling down I usually stop by the pharmacy on my way home and pick up a bottle or two of cheap nail polish. The last time this happened I picked up two of the glitters from the Sally Hansen Limited Edition Fall 2013 Xtreme Wear Collection: Frazzle Dazzle (the copper glitter) and Rosey Shooter (the red and white glitter with the stupid name). I thought they’d both be cute for simple Christmas manis, and I was right!

Frazzle Dazzle

In these pictures I used two coats of Frazzle Dazzle (without having to fish for glitter or fill spaces after) on top of three coats of Julep Amity. It actually took me quite a while to decide what I wanted to swatch this over… White seemed too plain, but any true colour would take the attention away from the glitter. I’m happy with what I ended up with, since this soft silver foil pops under the glitter without detracting. 🙂

When I picked it up I actually thought Frazzle Dazzle was a plain copper glitter… Kind of like a more jazzed up SOPI Traffic Stopper Copper. But I was wrong! Behold my surprise when I painted on a coat of this and realised there were also black bar glitters in it! Huh. That’s an… interesting choice. Mixed in with the bar glitter are various sizes of copper and gold hex glitters. The difference between the copper and gold is subtle, but it’s there if you look closely.

The black bar glitter doesn’t come out on the nail quite as freely as they appear in the bottle (as you can see by the fact that there are none on my ring finger despite two coats), but there’s still enough to notice them.

I’m happy with this polish, though I don’t think it’ll get much wear from me. Copper isn’t really my colour unfortunately. Ah well, I’m still happy to have it. But for me it doesn’t hold a candle to the other polish I picked up, which was…

Rosey Shooter

Oh. My. Gosh. I love this polish. It’s probably in part because I swatched it over one of my current favs (two coats of Zoya Veruschka), which goes together to create the P E R F E C T Christmas mani!! Ahhhh, look at it! Haha. I’m so happy you guys. 🙂 Just like above, what you see here is two coats of Rosey Shooter which went on without having to fish or place any glitter.

Rosey Shooter is a glitter topper made up of various sizes of red and white hex glitter, and there’s also some white bar glitter thrown in for variety. My only complaint would be that there aren’t many of the largest size of hex glitter, so none of those ones actually ended up on my nails this time. 🙁

I just… I can’t get over this name you guys. “Rosey Shooter.” That’s a stupid name. Is there a pun or reference or something I’m missing? Does it mean shooter like a drink, rather than a bullet (which is what comes to mind for me)? Now it’s making me think of morbid things, considering it’s a red confetti with the word ‘shooter’ in the name. (Too much Hannibal. Sorry, guys… but maybe I’m not reading too much into it, since one of the other shades in the collection has the word ‘gun’ in the name? Ohhh Sally Hansen what are you doing.)

Honestly I loved this combo so much that I took a billion pictures. You’re lucky I was able to limit myself to just these ones…. Look how gorgeous that is!

And that’s it! I was moderately excited about these polishes when I got them, but not excited enough to pick up more than two from the collection. Now that I’ve swatched them (specifically now that I’ve swatched Rosey Shooter) I’m wondering if I shouldn’t go back and pick up some of the others… Hummmmm…! We’ll see.

So, what do you think? Do you like one more than the other? Should I have swatched Frazzle Dazzle over something else? Do you have insight into Rosey Shooter‘s terrible name? Let me know!!

Thanks for visiting!! xx
