ProcrastiNails: Soft Green Tribal Mani w/ Essie Navigate Her

I feel like I haven’t been to creative with my designs recently, so I’m trying to get back into the detail game. With this mani I took a step I never thought I would: using acrylic paints. Shock! Horror! Hahah.

I’ve always tried to use nail polish for my designs, but I was reading a post from one of the lovely ladies I follow who made the argument for acrylic paints and after giving it some thought I decided to try them too. Now that I’ve tried them I can see the ease for detail work, but I’m still going to try using nail polish for things first in the future. If nail polish doesn’t give me a satisfying look then I’ll turn to the acrylics. And that’s my stance on the issue!

What about you? Do you use acrylic paint? Just nail polish? A bit of both?

To get this look I started with three coats of Essie Navigate Her on the majority of my nails as a base, and three coats of Sinful Colors Black on Black for my thumb and ring accent nails. On the accent nails I also placed a single circular metal stud. Then I freehanded some tribal designs on top of Navigate Her with Black and Silver Acrylic Paint and voila!

I’m not a huge Essie fan, and I chose Navigate Her because I’d never worn it before. It’s kind of like a soft pea-green type colour, isn’t it? Hm. I don’t know that I would use it again since it really doesn’t go with my skin tone, but at least I’ve tried it!

Thanks for visiting!! xx
