31 Day Nail Art Challenge Fill: Matte Blue Tape Mani

by - Tuesday, April 09, 2013

Just a quick update today! This is my blue fill for the 31 Day Nail Art Challenge. I decided to do a layered tape mani and finished it off with a matte topcoat because why not. Enjoy! :)

If you're wondering, the mid point for the triangles was supposed to be varied from nail to nail. My only issue with this mani is that you can't see the second layer of blue (OPI's No Room for the Blues) because it's too similar to the base colour (China Glaze's Electric Beat) to really show. Lesson learned!

What I used to get this look:
(L to R)
China Glaze in Electric Beat
OPI's No Room for the Blues
China Glaze in Man Hunt
Essie's Matte About You topcoat
Tape! :)

  1. I can never use tape lol ends up taking my polish off grr lol.

I love this, looks so perfectly done.

    1. Thanks!! :) I sometimes get annoyed at having to wait so long between layers, so I usually do the base colour of my tape mani the night before. That way it will be fully dry by morning and I can finish it off!

    2. I love this look! Have you tried using a light layer of Seche Vite to speed up the drying process? I'm super impatient too, but it really helps a lot as long as you don't use a thick coat -- my nails are usually good to go within 5-10 mins.

    3. I've heard so much about Seche Vite, but I actually don't know where to get it in Canada... I've never seen it in my usual shops, and I don't order polish online. :(

    4. Hmm...have you tried Sally Beauty? I'm not from Canada, but I think they have Sally Beauty stores up there. I also remember seeing another blogger from Canada write about where she buys it...I think she said WINNERS? I hope you can find some -- it's awesome!

    5. I just looked Sally Beauty up online and it seems like there's one about an hour away from me, across the city... Hmm! Interesting, I may have to make a trip over there one day. Thanks for the heads up! :)
