30 Days of Colour - A Month-Long Swatch Challenge for April

Hello hello lovelies! I hope you've enjoyed the guest posts that have been shared over the past two weeks. I was having a bit of a tough time so I really appreciated the support from the ladies who stepped up to the plate to help me through it. :)

Not only am I coming back with some renewed blogging energy, but I'm also coming back with a new nail challenge! I spoke a couple months ago on social media about wanting to do a personal swatch challenge to help me get through some of my untrieds. There was interest from others in taking part so I've decided to make it a group challenge for anyone else who is interested.

Here are the details:
- The challenge will start April 1st and run through to the end of the month
- Anyone and everyone is welcome to take part - you can share your daily fills in the facebook group, connect via the link-ups I'll put together, or just participate in your own way offline. It's all good!
- We'll be using the hashtag #30DaysofColourChallenge across social media (yes there is a "u" - I'm Canadian!)
- This is a casual challenge so you can take part in as many or as few fills as you want.
- This isn't limited to nail polish - if you think you have enough lipstick or eyeshadow or markers to take part, go for it! You can also use the swatch colour as the base for a more intricate nail design. Whatever you want. :)
- Feel free to grab the graphics above or below to use in your posts or to share across social media - the more the merrier!

Check under the cut for more info, graphics, and (coming soon) the InLinkz codes!

Guest Post from PhD Nails - Terry Pratchett Inspired

Introduction

“It is said that your life flashes before your eyes just before
you die. That is true, it's called Life.”

Hello dear readers. This nail art is very special for me, not only because it's my very first guest post*, but also because it was inspired by Terry Pratchett. Super talented and bright fantasy writer Sir Terry Pratchett died last week after several years of fighting with early Alzheimers disease. He was only 66 years old.

Terry was famous for his "Discworld book series" and those of you who read these books will probably agree with me that Death was the finest character created by him. The reader could never forget that Death always speaks as VOICE in your head, has blue lights in his eyesockets, rides the pale horse Binky, loves cats, and personally comes whenever it's time for wizard to die. Terry Pratchett was definitely a wizard who created a fascinating universe with Discworld, where many things functioned in spite of any logic and were powered by magic instead. It's easy to believe that Death came personally to take Terry and now he will live forever in Discworld. Sure enough with his brilliant sense of humor and making millions of fans smile through tears his last tweets were:

AT LAST, SIR TERRY, WE MUST WALK TOGETHER.
Terry took Death’s arm and followed him through the doors and on to the black desert under the endless night.

Guest Post from Manna's Manis!

Note from Katherine: Hello all! If you follow me on facebook or instagram you may have seen my messages that I'm dealing with something personal right now and it'll probably take me a while to pull together enough to get back into my regular groove (blogging included). Thankfully I'm connected to some wonderful ladies who've been kind enough to agree to guest post for me over the next couple of weeks. :) First up is the amazing Manna, and don't forget to check her out on instagram, facebook and twitter!

Hi everyone! I'm Manna from Manna's Manis and I'm going to share some water decal nail art with you today!

A year ago I was lucky enough to win a giveaway for $20 to Born Pretty Store, and I'm just now getting around to using my winnings. I got 3 sets of water decals, and these were one of them. I've somehow managed to lose another set, the ones I really wanted to use for this mani. I searched high and low but they're nowhere to be found. I like to pride myself in being a really organized person, and when I misplace something, it drives me insane!

I'm totally in love with water decals lately, they're so much easier than stamping, and way less messy. I had some minor difficulties with these decals though. I followed the directions, but the image was actually backwards (the color was facing DOWN) Also, the image looks really pixelated. Regardless, I still loved the outcome, and I hope you do too!

Base color is Bonita-Divalicious and I topped this with HK Girl.

Has anyone else had these problems with decals from Born Pretty Store?

China Glaze Blobicure Nail Fail

Blobicure nail art nail fail with China Glaze nail polish

So I was digging through my back-stash of pictures trying to figure out what I wanted to share today when I came across these pictures from a few months ago. (I'm great when it comes to doing my nails and taking pictures - editing the pictures and writing the posts? Not so much.) Anyway, these are pictures from my first attempt at a blobicure - the process of painting a moderately thick base coat and then adding 'blobs' of other colours on top so they can spread out in the base polish and create neat organic looks.

I was in awe of all the turtle and giraffe looks that were going around when this trend first took off and decided to try it for myself... But the results were so horrible (to me) that aside from one lone picture on instagram I decided not to share them. But today I've decided to break my silence and share my results with you. Everything takes practice - this was my first attempt and you can't expect Olympic level results on kindergarten level experience, right? (Not all the time, at least!)

Swatch-It Sunday: Essie Just Stitched from the Cashmere Matte Collection

Swatch of Essie Just Stitched a soft pink matte nail polish with shimmer

Pink plus matte equals everything I could ever want in a polish. So it's no surprise that I am 100% in love with Essie Just Stitched from the 2015 Cashmere Matte Collection! I mean, look at that soft pink goodness. And there's a subtle shimmer of blue that comes through in the right light, too. What's not to love!

Review of the Garnier Clean+ Makeup Removing Lotion Cleanser for Sensitive Skin

* Press Sample

Something a bit different to share with you today! But don't worry - non-nail beauty items won't become the norm for me. I just think it's nice to mix it up from time to time, don't you? :) I'll have some extra awesome nail art to share with you tomorrow so if you're not interested in this I'll see you then!

Today I'm taking a look at the new Garnier+ Makeup Removing Lotion Cleanser. It both removes makeup and moisturizes and is quick enough for even the laziest skin care person (*cough* like me) to add to their routine.

Swatch and Review // CND Vinylux Garden Muse Summer 2015 Collection

* Press Sample

CND Vinylux Garden Muse Summer 2015 Collection Swatches

Happy Sunday, and do I have a treat for you! Today we have a look at the CND Vinylux line for Summer 2015 - just released today! The line is called the Garden Muse Collection and it's made up creamy and vibrant pastels with some shimmer and glitter thrown in here and there. This has to be one of my favourite collections since OPI's Pirates of the Caribbean line in 2011. It has that same soft and dreamy pastel feel, and you know how I love my pastels!

Each polish was swatched with one coat of CND Vinylux Weekly Top Coat to seal it in. The top coat actually becomes more durable with exposure to natural light, and it dries fully in 8.5 minutes to provide week-long chip-free wear. I didn't use a base coat because Vinylux polishes self-adhering and formulated to wear for a full week without base coat - and before you ask no I didn't experience any staining. :) This was my first experience with CND polishes and honestly I think I'm in love.

Let's take a closer look at those swatches!
