ProcrastiNails: 30 Days of Colour [Day 10: Grey] Nicole by OPI Gumdrops A-Nise Treat

Swatch of Nicole by OPI Gumdrops A-Nise Treat

We’ve made it 1/3 of the way through the 30 Days of Colour! Everyone take a deep breath and pat yourselves on the back for making it this far (or for following along with me this far). Great job! 20 more days to go!

Today’s prompt is ‘Grey,’ and I actually own quite a few grey polishes. Check under the cut for more info about this beauty and also a quick conversation about where it got it’s name!

For today I decided to with something a bit more unique rather than just a grey creme polish. This is one of the Nicole by OPI Gumdrop polishes, aka their textured glitter line. This lovely is named A-Nise Treat and I’m assuming it’s named as such after the anise seed or star anise which is a spice that can add a licorice flavour. Bold and spicy licorice definitely goes with the dark and glittery nature of this polish in my opinion!

I only needed two coats to build up to this gorgeous texture. I’d call A-Nise Treat a blackened grey textured polish with a healthy dose of silver glitter. Smearing it on white paper you can see that the base is actually a dark grey with black texture particles and a ton of silver microglitter. Lovely!

I really really love this polish (even if I don’t like the flavour of anise) and I really want to pull it out to do some fun colour blocking with… I think it would match awesomely with some bright and bold colours peeking out in patches.

Just for fun, here’s a look at A-Nise Treat with a layer of top coat:

Shiny! I like it, it’s like a whole new polish. I feel like I own a Zoya that looks similar to this one with top coat but I can’t for the life of me remember what it’s called right now… Hmm… If you know it, let me know in the comments!

So, do you think this licorice-inspired polish is a nice treat? Or would you pass? 😉
