So the other week I finally got around to picking up my Julep namesake (or as close as I’m likely to get): Catherine. Red isn’t usually my colour, but surprisingly I really really like this one! In real life it was lighter than the swatches on Julep.com, but it’s also a tad deeper than the pictures here would have you believe. It’s like a deeper and less-pink version of Julep Rose.
I would describe this as a vibrant blood red crelly. This is two coats though I would suggest 3 or 2 + undies to get rid of any and all visible nail line. I’m also wearing a coat of Seche Vite in these pictures since I took these pics as I ran out of the house.
I don’t know about you, but red nail polish always feels so cliché to me… It makes me picture the stereotypical vampy seductress from movies, or women dressed up all sophisticated with pearls clasped around their necks. Strong and feminine, with a dose of sex-appeal. That’s not really how I see myself, so maybe that’s one of the reasons this shade doesn’t grace my finger-tips that often!
All that being said, it’s a lovely shade. And it’s just crying out for a glittery accent nail, so I might see about adding that to my nails for tomorrow. I’m thinking a full-coverage gold… Hmm!
That’s all I’ve got for you today, but thanks for visiting!! xx
