ProcrastiNails: Week of Love: Sweet Nothings On My Fingertips

Hello hello lovelies! Like I said the other day I’m not normally much of a Valentine’s type of girl, but when I saw this cute Valentine’s Week Challenge going around on facebook I decided “why not!” So for the next 5 days you’re going to be treated to some sugary sweet lovey dovey nail art. Up today: my try at the theme of Candy Heart Sayings! I couldn’t wait any longer, so you get this just past the stroke of midnight tonight! Hahah. Enjoy!!

I feel this could have been executed better, but I’m still generally happy with it. 🙂 When I saw the theme I knew it was time to give some lettering a try again (which is something I don’t do often enough).

This whole look started with a pink skittle mani (colours L to R: Nicole by OPI Kim-Pletely in Love, OPI Sparrow Me The Drama, Sinful Colors Easy Going and Essie French Affair), which I then covered with homemade heart decals and painted over with China Glaze Life is Rosy. After I peeled the decals off and put on a layer of Seche Vite to smooth everything down, I wrote the letters on with my Rimmel London French White Tip Liner (which I saw the other day has been discontinued! Oh no!!) and sealed with another coat of Seche Vite.

I was surprised how much trouble I had coming up with sayings to write on these! I wanted them short enough to fit, but I didn’t want them all to be single words. Some rejected options included: Cutie Pie, Lover and Marry Me.

As much as I like how this mani turned out when it was finished, I also liked the look of it before I put the lettering on (and actually played around with the idea of just keeping it like this and using it as my fill for Hearts on the 13th). What do you think? 🙂

I love how all of the different shades work together in this look. They’re all soft pastels, and I think they lend a dreamy and romantic tone to the design. This would have looked MUCH different if I had used neons and black (which was my first idea!).

I love how soft and cute this design ended up being (both with and without the lettering on top), and I’m definitely going to play around with cutting different decal shapes out to use as templates. I wish my local arts and crafts store had better shaped punches in the scrapbook section, but they only seem to ever have HUGE punches so for the time being I’ll have to keep drawing and cutting them by hand (which is a bit of a pain). Ah well.

And here’s what you have to look forward to over the next few days:

And make sure to check out some of the fills from the other lovely people taking part! They’re all awesome! 😀

Thanks for visiting!! xx
