ProcrastiNails: The 31 Day Challenge 2014 – Day 25: Light and Feathery Ball Gown Nails

Still trying to catch up on the prompts for The 31 Day Challenge! Today I have my fill for Day 25: Inspired by Fashion.

I love drawing inspiration from dresses and collections that cross my dashboard on tumblr, so that’s where I decided to go for my fashion inspired nails for today. Unfortunately I can’t find the original gown or designer but I had made a mock-up of this design when I first saw it and was holding on to it waiting for the right opportunity to put it into action. Well, today’s the day!

If I remember correctly the gown was opaque at the top and then had a nude mesh panel before falling away into a gorgeously light and feathered full skirt with crystals throughout. I tried to mirror this idea by doing a simple ruffian look with Essie Blanc at the tops of all of my nails, and then I layered a fading gradient of Blanc and Essie Peak of Chic at the tip over naked nails to give that flowing, sparkling, feathered look.

I just love the use of negative space in this look, and I think this is a really great way to use those feather effect polishes that were popular a while ago. Overall I’m really happy with how it turned out. 🙂

Check out the other fashionable looks below!

We’re slowly getting back on track, fingers crossed that we can make it to the finish line! 🙂 See you tomorrow!
