Step into Summer: Pastel Skittles Mani

by - Tuesday, June 25, 2013

Know what I love? Pastel colours. They're so soft and happy and calm. And I can never resist the chance to use them when a nail art design strikes me. So when I decided to sit down and do the Skittle fill for the Step into Summer Challenge I thought: hells yeah I'm gonna use pastels! So after choosing some of my favourites (and doodling a fun geometric pattern to make it more interesting) this is what I ended up with. Love it? Love it.

The colours I used for this were OPI Mermaid's Tears, China Glaze Electric Beat, Rimmel London French White Nail Tip Liner, Revlon Electric, and OPI Sparrow Me The Drama.

After applying three coats each of OPI Mermaid's Tears, Revlon Electric, China Glaze Electric Beat and OPI Sparrow Me The Drama I let them dry for a few minutes and then used my trusty bottle of Rimmel London French White Nail Tip Liner to draw this fun geographic design. To do this I drew a triangle shape in a different place on each nail and then added a series of parallel lines inside to add some visual interest.

This took me back to grade 7 math class... Look at all my acute and obtuse angles! I might even have pulled off a right angle on my pinky. ;) Yay geometry!

  2. I love how all of the colors you chose are roughly the same quality of faded pastel, they look like they belong together in a set! Very nice!

    1. That's true, I didn't even notice! Mermaid's Tears and Sparrow Me The Drama are from the same set (which happens to be my favourite OPI Collection) but the other two shades totally fit in. Awesome! :)
