Indie Review + Swatch // My First Impressions of Emily de Molly

Swatches and brand review of Emily de Molly

Hooray, another new brand for me! This is one I've seen around a lot and have wanted to try for a while - Emily de Molly! Since they're based in Australia I haven't gotten around to ordering from them yet, so when a fellow Canadian blogger was destashing some of her pretties I decided to pick these two up.

Since these are both from a destash I'm not able to comment on some of the things I normally would in these posts (for example: shipping and customer service) but if/when I do order directly from the brand or a stockist in the future I will update the post with that info. For now I'll just focus on my thoughts on the brand/polish in general!

Nail Art // Neon Rainbow Skittle Mani

Neon Rainbow Skittle Mani with the Color Club Poptastic Neons

I'm really proud of myself for keeping up with doing three posts a week! AND that's while working on being productive in my life, too! I'm currently reorganizing a lot of spaces in my apartment as I realized I haven't really bought new furniture or changed anything up in like 4 years so it's all starting to look a bit dated... But a few trips to Ikea, HomeSense and other fun money-spending places has been helping with that!

Anyway, you don't want to hear about my apartment changes I'm sure, so let's focus in on these neon-ly fabulous nails!

Review // Oatmeal Peach Blossom Soap from Finery Soaps & Luxuries

Hello hello lovelies! Today I want to share a product with you that I have been in love with for about a year now. It's the Oatmeal Peach Blossom Soap from Finery Soaps & Luxuries!

So full disclosure, I was introduced to these products because one of my coworkers owns the shop and she gave me my first sample for free. But I fell in love with her soaps and have since re-bought this one for myself and bought a whole bunch of soaps and bath bombs for my mom (and she also fell in love with them). They just smell and work so well that once you try one you can't stop, I swear! So this post isn't sponsored or made with samples, but a sample is how I was introduced to the brand!

Nail Art // Gold Accented Nails with Julep Golden Angle Nail Wraps

Gold Accented Nails with Julep Golden Angle Nail Wraps

These days when I have free time and I'm at home I always toss up in my head "Should I play Sims 4, or should I write blog posts?" And man, it's hard to choose sometimes. My compromise? I often write my blog posts while watching Let's Play videos of Sims 4 on youtube... Haha. Does anyone else still have an unhealthy obsession with the Sims franchise?! The games are just so addictive!

Anyway, from everything I've said so far you would think these nails have something to do with The Sims, but... They don't, at all. Haha. I just wanted to let you know how I felt when I sat down to write this post. :) So let's get into the info and pics about this look!

Swatch // Celebrating the First Day of Spring with my L'Oreal Paris Coachelala Flower Top Coat

L'Oreal Paris Coachelala Flower Top Coat Nail Polish

When I saw that one of the prompts we were doing for The 30 Days of Colour Challenge was 'The First Day of Spring,' I immediately knew which polish I wanted to feature - this fun floral topper from L'Oreal Paris!

Does anyone else remember when toppers with these flower glitter were all the rage with mainstream brands? I think that was a good two or three years ago at this point.. I wasn't a huge fan of them, but I did end up picking up two from L'Oreal Paris when they were on clearance on the end of the season. I got this peachy orange one and another in a light green.

I've never personally used these toppers before, but I did feature one guest post from Sumeet of Tales of Coffee, Lacquer and Beauty and another from Rose of Manicured and Marvelous in March 2015 that feature these types of glitter. So when I say they were 'a thing' I wasn't lying! :)

Nail Art // The Digit-al Dozen REDOES Art: French Drip Marble

I am calling this a 'French' drip marble for the sole reason that the painting I based it on was one I purchased in Quebec City. Hahaha. It's not a new technique, don't worry! ;)

Today I have the last post for this month's Digit-al Dozen theme of 'Art.' As stated above it's based on a painting I have in my place, and I gotta say it's one of my favourite paintings in the entire apartment. :) I got it when I was in high school and doing an exchange in Quebec and it's traveled along with me on every apartment move since then.

Take a look below for the inspiration pic and a breakdown of aaaaall the polishes!

Nail Art // The Digit-al Dozen REDOES Art: 1950's/60's Style Colour Overlapping

Two posts in one day, who am I?! Haha. I wanted to get up a green-themed post to celebrate Saint Patrick's Day, but since it's also a DD week I knew I had to get up a post for our theme of 'Art' as well. I could have combined the two posts into one but what fun is that. ;)

My Top Fives // These Are a Few Of My Favourite (Creme) Greens

My favourite green polishes

HAPPY SAINT PATRICK'S DAY! Let's keep with the theme of the day and keep it green!

As you may have guessed, today we are looking at some of my favourite green creme polishes! This is a fun little series I started a while ago (you can see my favourite pink cremes here!) that lets me share some of my most loved polishes with you. They're super fun for me to put together, and I hope you like going through them as much as I enjoy deciding which polishes to feature. :)

Nail Art // The Digit-al Dozen REDOES Art: Silver Chrome on Chrome Stamping

Silver Chrome on Chrome Stamping Nail Art

Ahhh I'm behind! :( Things got a bit ridiculous this week and since I didn't do all my DD looks ahead of time I'm now officially behind one day. Gotta catch up!

Today I'm sharing my third look with you for The Digit-al Dozen REDOES Art, and this time I based my design on some pressed silver coasters I inherited from a great uncle. I just love the raised silver image of roses they have (though unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of them to share with you - I'll have to update the post later with pictures of the coasters)!

To create a similar look I decided to do silver-on-silver stamping, and guess what? All of this was done with just one polish! Check out how I did that below. :)

Nail Art // The Digit-al Dozen REDOES Art: Vintage Cross Stitch Floral Art

So when my grandma passed a couple years ago I ended up with a bunch of various pieces of art that she had had. My favourite piece is a giant (3 foot ish) ceramic elephant statue that has yet to be transported from my parents' house to mine, but I also got some cross stitch pieces, mounted ceramic tiles, handmade mounted lace... Lots of fun stuff that both looks pretty and reminds me of my grandma.

Today my fill for The Digit-al Dozen REDOES Art is inspired by one of the cross stitch pieces, and while it's not my favourite look it was definitely fun to do!

Nail Art // The Digit-al Dozen REDOES Art: Chrome Metalwork Tree Nails

The Digit-al Dozen REDOES Art: Chrome Metalwork Tree Nails

This month for the Digit-al Dozen our theme is 'Art'! This is a theme the group already did in the past (before my time) hence the 'REDOES' portion.

I gotta admit I had no idea what to do with these theme, and I also thought we were posting next week not this week... Oops!

Thankfully an idea came to me pretty quickly, and for this week I've decided that I'm going to be focusing on nail art inspired by art around my house. :) Original, right?!

Today I'm focusing on an organic and earthy metalwork tree sculpture that I picked up at a Farmer's Market in my home town last year. Check below for some looks at the art I did and also a look at the original artwork that inspired it!

Holo holo holo! Today we're looking at a holo! :) This gorgeous piece of green is My Indie Polish Last Summer Picnic and it's also my green swatch for The 30 Days of Colour!

Unboxing // My February 2017 Topbox

February 2017 Topbox Review

Look at me, I've caught up to my Topbox reviews! (That is, as long as I get this posted before my March box arrives..)

So for those who are wondering, Topbox is a Canadian subscription box that contains four deluxe-sized (and sometimes full-sized!) beauty samples every month for $12 CAD (plus tax, free shipping). And this month is actually one of the months I've been the most happy with, even though it only contains for products. :) I think each and every product in this box is something that I will use!

Nail Art // Negative Space Stamping with MoYou London and Mundo de Unas

Hellooo! This post is getting to you a bit later in the day than usual, but that's because I have literally ten million things on my plate today. Well, not literally. Figuratively. But still - a lot! One of which is a job interview tomorrow (eeee)! Wish me luck! :)

I was in such an awesome mood when I put these nails together. A few months ago I picked up some of the layering plates from MoYou London. They have a variety of lines, dots, flowers and leaves that can be mixed and matched in a number of ways. They make me so happy!! So many possibilities!

The first day I got them I pulled them and some of my favourite stamping polishes out and put these nails together, and I've been in love with them ever since. (Both this nail design and the plates in general!) I definitely have to pull them out to play more often!

Swatch // Quo by ORLY Gold Rush Sparkle

Quo by ORLY Gold Rush Sparkle

Bursts of swatching energy are awesome, you know? I mean, I'm no superstar like some bloggers I know who swatch a billion polishes a day, but a good day for me is like 5 to 7 polishes.

During my most recent burst of energy I did all my swatches for this month's 30 Days of Colour Challenge prompts which means I will get to post them all on time this round! :) Woo hoo.

Today we're looking at my 'Gold' swatch for the first week, and since the challenge is to focus on polishes that you have never used or that you don't give much love to I decided to use this baby from Quo by ORLY!

Check out more info below!

Unboxing // My January 2017 Topbox

Unboxing my January 2017 Topbox

I am so behind on unboxing posts... This box is from January, and I am posting it now in March. SIGH. My Julep posts are also at least a year behind at this point. Guys, why must I procrastinate so much!!

Topbox is a Canadian beauty box that contains four deluxe-sized samples (and sometimes full-sized products!) every month for $12 CAD (plus tax, free shipping). I've gotten a broad range of beauty products, skin care products, polish and tools in the past four months I've subscribed.

So let's play catch up! Today we're taking a look at the unboxing of my January 2017 Topbox. And I have to say, this is one of the best boxes I've gotten in a while! There was just SO MUCH quality stuff in it! Ahh! Let's get right into it!

Swatch // Fiendish Fancies F.13-04: We’re An Endangered Species

Fiendish Fancies F.13-04: We’re An Endangered Species

You would never guess how many indie polishes I own if you just looked at how many actually got posted on this blog... I am so behind in my swatching! In the interest of cutting my to-swatch list down (and also in the interest in posting my 'Blue' fill for The 30 Days of Colour) today I have one of my indie beauties from Fiendish Fancies!
