Swatch // Celebrating the First Day of Spring with my L'Oreal Paris Coachelala Flower Top Coat
When I saw that one of the prompts we were doing for The 30 Days of Colour Challenge was 'The First Day of Spring,' I immediately knew which polish I wanted to feature - this fun floral topper from L'Oreal Paris!
Does anyone else remember when toppers with these flower glitter were all the rage with mainstream brands? I think that was a good two or three years ago at this point.. I wasn't a huge fan of them, but I did end up picking up two from L'Oreal Paris when they were on clearance on the end of the season. I got this peachy orange one and another in a light green.
I've never personally used these toppers before, but I did feature one guest post from Sumeet of Tales of Coffee, Lacquer and Beauty and another from Rose of Manicured and Marvelous in March 2015 that feature these types of glitter. So when I say they were 'a thing' I wasn't lying! :)
For my cheery floral mani I started off with a bright blue base with L'Oreal Paris Jet Set to Paris (warning: this one is a stainer) and then painted on two coats of L'Oreal Paris Coachelala Flower Top Coat. I did have to dig for the flower glitter and place them individually, just fyi. I would say that's something important to keep in mind for if you want to pick this polish up for yourself, but I'm pretty sure it's long gone from shelves at this point.
As you can see this topper has a variety of glitter included: in addition to the white flower glitter we also have some peach and white bar glitter, and some yellow and peach hex glitter. The coverage from one coat isn't heavy which is nice because it means you can control how much of the glitter you want to disperse along the nail. It's a fun combo of glitter, even if I'm not a lover of bar glitter!
Do you remember when flower glitter like this was popular? Did you ever pick any up, and if so how did you use them on your nails? I'd love to hear!
Thanks for visiting! xx
