Nail Art // The Digit-al Dozen Does Colour Contrasts: Matte Contrasting Squares

And we're at the end of our Digit-al Dozen week! It went so fast! D:

Today I have a very busy look for you that features a variety of colours in both neon and pastel (again I'm focusing on the contrast of shade to fit with the 'colour contrasts' theme!) and I got to pull out my neon acrylic paints for this one. *super happy about that* I was unsure about using acrylic paint with nail vinyls but it worked out great!

Do you really want a full breakdown of all the polishes and products I used..?? Haha. Let's skip that for today and I'll just say I used shades from Julep and Essie for my bases, and paired each shade up with a complementary neon shade for contrast. Pink and green, and blue and yellow! And the strip of black is just for extra contrast against the neon. :)

To put these together I painted my base, and while that was drying I made some decals with square vinyls and my neon paints which I applied to my nails after everything was dry. Black polish on the edges and some Sally Hansen matte top coat finished it all up.

Also I've learned the type of topcoat you use on your nail to apply the decals really impacts the quality... Seche Vite does NOT work well for me for vinyls, buy my Essence Gel-Like Top Coat works amazingly.

And that's it for this month's theme! There'll be a birthday mani for the November babies in the Digit-al Dozen later this month, so you can keep an eye out for that! :) Otherwise that's all she wrote, and we'll be back to our regularly scheduled nail programming tomorrow. Thanks everyone!

Thanks for visiting! xx

  1. Neon, pastel and black - you threw it all at us! I love seeing people push the limits and seeing how well it works! Awesome!
