Hello dolls! I have a short and sweet set of reviews for you today around two products I was sent by Influenster to try out. Bioré has a new line of facial cleansers that make use of a slightly unexpected ingredient… Baking soda! Hmmmmm. Very interesting!

Did they live up to my expectations (considering I’ve had a lot of great experiences with Bioré products in the past)? Check under the cut to find out!

Bioré Baking Soda Pore Cleanser

First up is the Pore Cleanser. This product claims to be ideal for combination skin and says it will “deep clean and exfoliate dry, flaky skin.” You just give yourself a couple of pumps into your hand, lather with water and apply to your face before rinsing off. Pretty standard!

I was surprised that it smells and applies a lot like another Bioré product I love – the Bioré Charcoal Facial Cleanser. Similar product, different colour, slightly different feel. This one feels a bit more chalky when applied, if that makes sense.

It didn’t get all my eye makeup off which would be my one complaint, but as a non-drying overall facial cleanser I was overall really happy with it. 🙂

Next up is the Cleansing Scrub. It also claims to be best for combination skin and is a powder-to-foam that is activated with liquid. Basically you put a quarter amount in your palm, add water to make it fizz and foam up, and then apply to your face and wash off.

I wasn’t to sure about this one, to be honest. The powder has a consistency and texture sort of close to flour, and I was nervous that it would be too harsh and drying on my skin. It was really fun to make it foam up with water though, and it wasn’t as drying as I expected. It didn’t feel like any other scrub I’ve tried – it was very smooth!

It was still more drying than my normal scrub though, so I probably won’t use it too much. Bioré suggests to use it less often if it is drying for your skin, so it sounds like they knew that would be a problem for some people.

And here’s a look at that foaming action because why not:

Look at that foam! Haha. You can also add more or less water, depending on the consistency you want the product to be. 🙂

Bioré Baking Soda Cleansing Scrub and Bioré Baking Soda Pore Cleanser from Influenster

I remember when this product was first announced a lot of people were worried that baking soda would be too harsh a product to apply to the face, but Bioré seems to have made it work. 🙂

Neither of these products caused me to break-out and neither were overly drying for me (though the Cleansing Scrub was more drying than I would like) but I can’t guarantee they would work the same way for every skin type. If you’re prone to dry skin I wouldn’t recommend this line, though.

Would you be interested in trying a product from this line? What do you think about the idea of using baking soda products on your face? Let me know!

Thanks for visiting! xx
