Hey lovelies! Remember when all the indie brands were releasing their leopard glitter toppers? I can’t even begin to tell you how much I loved the look of them – especially KBShimmer’s Spot Sign. Ahhh. But alas I don’t really do indie polishes so I just thought about these glitter toppers… A LOT. So imagine my delight when I was at Clarie’s and saw they have their very own leopard glitter top coat. Oh my gosh you guys! I was shopping with a friend and I’m pretty sure I talked her ear off over how excited I was. 🙂
So this is the polish I’m choosing to share with you today, as I work back into the groove of blogging after coming out of an (unplanned) hiatus. Did my dream polish hold up to my expectations once I applied it? Read below to find out!
Doesn’t this topper look so nice, with it’s mixture of black leopard glitter and iridescent glitter shards? It looks lovely but this was an ACTUAL nightmare to apply. What you see took me one failed round of painting it on over my grey base, followed by two layers of sponged on glitter shards (damn that clear base is thick), and then a huge fishing expedition to find the leopard spots. :/ It then took TWO coats of top coat to even start to smooth it down.
This is where I say the polish looked like a dream but applied like an actual nightmare. Ugh. I was rooting for you, Claire’s!
I still really like how this polish looks and looking at it now I’m even thinking “I’m sure it wasn’t that bad to apply….” But no. I know I’m just fooling myself. This is one to keep in my collection just to be content with the fact I finally own a leopard glitter, but I don’t think I’ll be pulling it out much. For the few bucks it cost me though I don’t really mind.
I haven’t tried Claire’s polishes before but I did pick up a few more so we’ll see if the issue is with all their polishes or just this one.
