I think one thing a lot of girls (or people in general!) wish they had was the ability to flip between long and short hair on a whim. For me when I have long hair I wish for the cute and simple ease of a good pixie cut or bob, and when I have that short hair I wish for nothing but long and gorgeous locks to twist up or braid off! Extensions are something I’ve thought about for a few years now, but always hemmed and hawed because of the expense. Did I really want to invest in something like that? Good extensions aren’t cheap!
Well, my decision was made for me when the lovely people at Irresistible Me reached out and asked if I wanted to try their clip-in extensions… Hell yeah I did!
Irresistible Me offers a wide variety of extensions, with two different clip-in lines: Silky Touch which is their best-selling line and ideal for first-time wearers as it offers a more affordable price point for great quality, and their premium Royal Remy line which is treated for durability and silkiness and is the closest match you will find to untreated hair. Both lines are made from 100% human hair, and they’re available in multiple lengths and multiple weights. You can also clip, curl, straighten, wash and dye them without issue!
I decided if I was going to do this I was going to go all the way, so I went with the Royal Remy in 18 inches and at 200 grams. That got me 10 pieces: 1 four-clip piece, 2 three-clip pieces, 5 two-clip pieces, and 2 one-clip pieces.
Testing the Colour
When you first open the box you’re shown a bag with your extensions all wrapped up inside. There’s a large side that has the majority of your extensions bunched away, and there’s also a small “preview” side sectioned off that you can take out to confirm it matches your natural colour (which the Medium Brown did for me so perfectly it was scary). If it doesn’t match you can send it back for another colour as long as you haven’t opened the other side.

As I mentioned above the shade I chose matched my natural colour to a ridiculously exact degree, so without any further thought I opened up the full package and got to playing around with it!
Attaching the Extensions
This is what the full piece looked like after I took the hair net off, and before brushing it out:

Each piece is attached with little clips, which you can see below. They pop open (this took me a really long time to figure out!) when you press on them, and then you just snuggle them up on your head and clip them shut!
My one issue was that there weren’t any instructions included in the package, so I had to take to youtube to find a tutorial through Irresistible Me’s channel. Basically they suggest pulling most of your hair up, clipping one extension in along the bottom, dropping a curtain of hair down, applying another layer of extensions, and so on. Once you do three or four up the back of your head you can add some along the sides and up along your temples to even it all out.
I would say in total it took me about 15 minutes to figure them out and properly apply them with the very basic styling you’ll see in a bit.
The wide variety of sizes (with the four-clip being the biggest and the one-clip being the smallest) lets you use as much or as little as you need to look natural, which I appreciate!
This is the four-clip piece, the largest and heaviest of all of them:

The Final Results
So, what did they look like when I finally put them in, you ask? Wait no longer! (Though note the pictures above are more true to the Medium Brown shade than the one below…)
Before and after applying my extensions! |
OH MY GOSH. Honestly, I don’t even recognize myself, but in a good way! (Also you probably don’t recognize me either, since this is the first time I’ve posted real pictures of myself on here! Woo!) I haven’t had long hair in years so I couldn’t remember how to do much styling, but I was ridiculously impressed with how well these extensions blended with my natural hair! Especially with how short my hair is!
In this picture I’m wearing all of the pieces except for the large four-clip piece and three of the two-clip pieces. So there is still a lot of hair I could add if I wanted to!
Overall Thoughts
One thing I would say as a person who has never worn extensions before is that these things are hot! As in the back of my neck quickly went: “ohhhh yeah, this is what it feels like to be covered up with hair, turn on the air conditioning!” You also have to get used to the extra weight, but I think those things are worth it for the opportunity to go from short to long in a snap!
The set that I chose retails for $279, but there are a lot of variations you can play with in terms of length, quality and weight to find something that fits your price point. Right now you can also get 20% off your first order with the code GET20OFF!
If you’re interested in giving extensions a try for the first time, or if you’ve tried them before but are looking for a new set, I would definitely recommend giving the ones from Irresistible Me a try. You get great quality and selection, and if you have trouble choosing the right style or shade you can send them a message and they will help you out. 🙂
