The theme for today’s 30 Days of Colour Challenge fill is ‘Black’ and it just so happens I came across a new (to me) black OPI earlier this week, so of course I had to pull it out today. 🙂 This is Queen of the Road from OPI’s 2014 Mustang Collection.
Queen of the Road is a black with just a hint of grey/silver in the right light, and I’m struggling to describe it further than that… It reminds me of a car tire, to be completely honest. That kind of black shade that makes you think “well maybe this is just a reeeeally dark grey… but now it’s black… but with a bit of grey?” I’m also going to put this one down as a frost since the polish did keep some brush strokes and has a hint of a shimmer/sheen in the right light.
I used two coats to apply Queen of the Road and it was perfectly opaque. I didn’t add any top coat and you can see this polish has a bit of a dulled gloss when it’s dry (which I don’t mind).
Here’s a close up of some of that shimmer, and you can also see the brush strokes.
I didn’t pick any of the Mustang Collection shades up the first time because I thought it was a weird collaboration in the first place and none of the colours were particularly unique. Now that I own it I think this one is a bit unique for my collection, though it also kind of reminds me of the glossier version of OPI 4 In the Morning from the Gwen Stefani Collection. Hm!
Here’s a look at the other ‘Black’ fills for today:
