Welcome lovelies! I’m Sumeet from Tales of Coffee, Lacquer and Beauty and as you might have guessed I’m guest posting for Katherine today! I love springtime and today’s mani was inspired by my favorite part of spring, cherry blossoms!
I started out with three thin coats of China Glaze Dashboard Dreamer from the spring Road Trip collection. It’s a lovely light sky blue with a hint of copper shimmer that really shines in the sunlight. The formula is on the thinner side but is completely opaque in three coats.
For the gradient I used Dashboard Dreamer along with Sun’s Up (yellow) and Trip of a Lime Time (chartreuse green) also from the same collection with a make up sponge.
Stamping
For the stamping I used a new MyOnline Shop stamping plate, MJ XLV with Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Slick As Slate. If you aren’t into stamping you can use a detail brush or dotting tool to create branches too!
And the star of the show, the Cherry Blossom top coat (yup that’s the name) is from Sephora’s Formula X line. This was a LE release last spring and I am really hoping they will bring it back this year.
There are alternatives out there too-
- Nails Inc. also makes a floral topper which is still available.
- The new O.P.I Soft Collection launching next month also has a similar glitter topper called “Petal Soft “
- The L’Oreal Spring collection also has a similar glitter called “Garden Bouquet.
For the look, I simply dabbed on the smaller glitter pieces over the stamped image and used a dotting tool to place the larger floral glitter.
I sealed everything in with a generous layer of G&G H.K. Girl which smoothed out about 80% of the texture. For a completely smooth surface I would recommend two layers of top coat or layering your top coat with Gelous or a similar product. Keep in mind Gelous may smear your nail art so you might want to sandwich it between your top coat.
I hope you enjoyed this mani and I really hope spring is around the corner, I’m so over winter 🙂
Thanks for stopping by and remember stay happy!
From Katherine: Thank you so much Sumeet! I adore this gradient, stamping and glitter combo! Sumeet does gorgeous nail art with an insane amount of depth – my favourite look to-date from her is the stunning one she did with alcohol inks. Be sure to check her out there as well as on facebook, instagram and twitter!
