ProcrastiNails: Jewel Toned Half Moon Nails with Julep and OPI

I had a family wedding the other week and decided to put together some fun jewel toned nails to make my outfit pop! Half moons seem to be a popular design choice for me these days and I think part of that is because they’re just so easy to do and they look so nice.

Let’s take a better look at the design!

I actually wore a black suit with faux-leather detailing and cropped pants for the wedding, so my look was pretty streamlined and professional. I also had these huge, gorgeous costume jewelry earrings on… I wish I had pictures to share! Also since I didn’t get home until a few days after the wedding my nails have a bit of wear and tear. But I just liked them so much I had to make a post. 🙂

I started out with a base of OPI Love.Angel.Music.Baby. on most of my nails and then used some decals to fill in the majority of the nail with Julep Evelyn and when that dried I did more moons with the gold and with Julep Angela. The accent nails are a base of either Julep Angela or Evelyn (one of each per hand) with larger half moons with the OPI at the bottom. I locked the whole thing in with a layer of top coat for extra shine.

This was a really fun look to do, though it did take me a while. And stupid me left getting dressed and putting my makeup on until after I did my nails, which means my lovely mother helped me get ready far more than any mother-of-a-late-20’s-daugher should ever have to. Love you mom! Haha.

What kind of nails do you like to wear for special events? Pops of colour? Neutrals? I’d love to hear!
